Beyonce Shares Latest Trailer 'Black is King', Collaboration with Disney

Kapanlagi.com - Beyonce has shared the latest trailer for BLACK IS KING on Sunday (19/07). Her new visual album is inspired by the film THE LION KING: THE GIFT. It is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on July 31, 2020. The release coincides with the one-year anniversary of the release of the THE LION KING remake, in which Beyonce also voiced a character.

This is the second trailer, with the first trailer released three weeks ago. In this second trailer, we focus on the narration of Beyonce with a young boy. "You are formed by the heat of the galaxy. That's what makes you unique and known," says the opening narration of Beyonce in the video, which is less than 2 minutes long. Additionally, a little spoiler of a song from her latest album is revealed at the end of the video.

According to the press release from Disney and Parkwood Entertainment, the visual album tells the story of reimagining the lessons of the 2019 blockbuster for today's young kings and queens in search of their own crowns. The story itself tells about the transcendent journey of a young king that is filled with betrayal, love, and self-identity. With the teachings and guidance of his father, he regains his home and throne. It is very clear that this album is indeed inspired by THE LION KING.

“The journey of this black family is highly appreciated until today, how they can reclaim their home and throne. This lesson is expressed and reflected through their voices until today. BLACK IS KING is created with original visuals that showcase the resilience and culture of black people. This film highlights the beauty of tradition and the excellence of black people,” added Disney in a press release.

As seen in the trailer, Black Is King will feature guests Jay-Z, fellow singer Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Lupita Nyong'o, Naomi Campbell, model Aweng Ade-Chuol and Adut Akech and many of the artists who appeared in the album THE GIFT. Beyoncé herself collaborated with her trusted music video directors Jake Nava, Pierre Debusschere, creative director of THIS IS AMERICA Ibra Ake, filmmaker Blitz Bazawule, Emmanuel Adjei, Dikayl Rimmasch and Jenn Nkiru and long-time collaborator Kwasi Fordjour. Beyoncé herself is credited as the writer, director, and executive producer of the visual album.

In addition to its premiere on July 31 on Disney+, this film is reported to have reached distribution agreements, so it is possible that it will be shown in several parts of Africa such as South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Namibia, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Senegal, Togo, Somalia, Benin, Congo, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Gabon, Cape Verde, and many more.
