FAPI and APMI Will Support and Complement Each Other for the Progress of the Indonesian Creative Industry

Kapanlagi.com - Throughout 2020, music events or performances have been canceled to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Now, in the new normal era, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) is encouraging local music promoters to form the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI) as a forum for communication and exchange of ideas in resolving the issues currently faced.

A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was recently held in Yogyakarta. Among those present were Rizki Handayani, Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers at Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, along with music promoters for discussion and exchange of ideas.

"There needs to be a forum or event association to help the government curate the best events in the country. And this is in line with the duties and functions of the Event Department of Kemenparekraf, including supporting regional events, promoting national events, and bringing international events to the country. Because, Indonesia's DNA is creativity," said Rizki.

"Senior promoters who are members of FAPI can become advisors or mentors for the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI). So the senior promoters are directly involved in APMI as well," he added.

1. APMI and FAPI Continuously Collaborating

The return of music events is expected to increase the visits and movements of foreign tourists and domestic tourists.

Similar but not the same, the Indonesian Music Promoters Association (APMI) is said to have a strong collaboration with the Indonesian Promoters Association Forum (FAPI). The presence of both brings the possibility of cross-generational collaboration between senior promoters and other cross-sector promoters in Indonesia.

"The Indonesian Promoters Association Forum (FAPI), which was formed earlier, has a wider scope, including cross-generational collaboration, cross-senior promoter collaboration, and cross-sector promoter collaboration in Indonesia. So it will continue to exist and collaborate with APMI," said Tommy Pratama, the owner of Original Production FAPI.

"This means that the presence of APMI is not as a rival association of FAPI. Insha Allah, they can support and complement each other for the progress of the Creative Promoters & National Tourism Industry of Indonesia," he added.

2. Get Support from Musicians

The formation of FAPI and APMI itself has received support from various musicians in the country. As shown by Bongky Marcel, former bassist of Slank who is now a member of BIP.

"There should be an institution or association that oversees promoters in Indonesia. FAPI is good for the future. So that our promoters can be more creative," said Bongky.
