Bisma Karisma Called to Re-record the Song of 'Si Bengal from Bandung', Even Searching for the Vinyl and Original Lyrics

Kapanlagi.com - Singer Bisma Karisma has just released his debut album titled "Rihlah". This album consists of eight songs that present various musical experiments and deep stories.

One of the most interesting songs is a rearranged version of "Angin" by the late Harry Roesli. The legendary musician from Bandung who was dubbed as 'Si Bengal from Bandung'.

Bisma revealed that working on Harry Roesli's song was a big challenge. The process involved searching for the correct original lyrics and even hunting for the original vinyl.

"Rearranging the song of the late Si Bengal from Bandung, Harry Roesli. There was a process for me, even searching for the correct original lyrics," said Bisma at the Kapanlagi Youniverse office, Thursday (17/7/2024).

"I even searched for the vinyl and the question from my family was, 'why this song?' Because it has never been performed before," added Bisma.

In the process of rearranging, Bisma is not only loyal to the original version, but also adds new elements that make this song more alive and theatrical.

"Because with permission from the late family, they also said that basically when someone performs his song. Yes, bring my version, don't bring the late version. Please export it as much as possible, according to each interpretation," he said.

With the approval of Harry Roesli's family, Bisma added theatrical elements to honor the experimental style of the maestro. Bisma's goal in choosing this song is to introduce Harry Roesli to the younger generation.

"I feel called to this song which I feel must be heard by the younger generation. Because my goal is to introduce him, there is a figure of him who is just as much of a maestro," said Bisma.

2. Unexpected Decision

Although the song is not popular among the general public, Bisma believes that the lyrics and chord progression of this song have extraordinary depth. Bisma admits that choosing this song was an unexpected decision.

"I didn't expect to choose that song, because usually it's Malaria or Borobudur or many other more exotic ones," said Bisma.

"But for me, this is actually the most minimalist but the deepest in terms of lyrics. It's weird, so I didn't just think about it but really felt it when choosing the songs," he concluded.
