Faith Shallom Refreshes Andre Hehanusa's Old Song into a Contemporary Vibe

The song Antara Kita, which is Fay's debut single, is a cover of a work by senior musician Andre Hehanusa, which was quite popular in the 90s when performed by the trio Rida Sita Dewi or RSD. Now, 30 years later, the song Antara Kita is performed by Fay with a fresher and more contemporary feel.

"The song Antara Kita has a strong impression, even since it was first popularized by Rida Sita Dewi, I feel the song is still enjoyable. I asked to maintain the light music in this latest version. For me, lyrics about love among teenagers can be accepted by anyone," said Fay at the Preview Night event titled Ruang di Antara Kita held at The Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Friday (29/8).

Without holding back, to work on her debut single, Fay directly involved Andre Hehanusa, the composer, to refine the song. For Andre Hehanusa, Fay's unique vocal character is a strong reason for him to trust one of his masterpiece works to be covered.

"Fay loves music, she has a good, long breath and already has a singing foundation, her style is clear. Fay's voice challenges the current generation and her style is very much like today's youth." This could be something new again in 2025 that will be reinterpreted by Fay," explained Andre Hehanusa.

"I like Fay's vocals, back then (the song Antara Kita) had the ambience of The Corrs, now Fay has the space to explore and she asked for a band atmosphere, so that's the difference between then and now. So in my opinion, there is something new in my work from 30 years ago," he added.

1. Appreciation from Ucie Nurul

On the other hand, Ucie Nurul, who acts as the vocal director, is equally enthusiastic. For her, even though it was Fay's first time in the recording studio while working on the song Antara Kita, she has already shown her seriousness in diving into the Indonesian music industry with a training regimen that can be considered intense, resulting in a final product that is quite satisfying.

"Her new music is more youthful, fresh, funny, and just more Fay. During the recording, it was her first time in the studio, she had to be able to sing well, which is a mental challenge. At that time, Fay had to face a new atmosphere, new pressures, but Fay was relaxed," explained Ucie Nurul.

2. Presenting a New Atmosphere

With her musical ability, Fay has successfully regenerated Antara Kita, which initially had a strong impression as a group song, now presents a new atmosphere in a solo format accompanied by a band.

"I really have a dream to make people happy, there are feelings they don't know, and I want to be the person who helps express their feelings," concluded Fay.

It is planned that the Faith Shallom version of the song Antara Kita will be released shortly after she arrives in England to continue her education around September 2025. Fay also hopes that her upcoming debut single can represent the heartfelt voices of many people once it can be heard by the public.
