Jazz Gunung Bromo 2024: Ndaru Ndarboy, Vina Panduwinata to Gigi Jazz Project Warm Up the Audience in Extreme Weather

The magical atmosphere created by the transition from evening to night sky with temperatures reaching 13 degrees Celsius completed the Jazz music performance at Mount Bromo. A series of local and international musicians successfully rocked the Amfiteater Bromo venue and managed to overcome the cold temperature at the foot of Mount Bromo while singing joyfully with the audience.

Starting from Keutbitbit, Elfa's Singers, Vina Panduwinata to Gigi Jazz Project on the first and second day, the entire musical components performed successfully enlivened the stage and gained high enthusiasm from the audience. The unique combination of the coldness of Mount Bromo with the jazz music that you can only find at the Jazz Gunung Series festival.

Jazz Gunung Indonesia has become a pioneer of international-scale ethnic jazz music events featuring many musicians in the open air since 2009, and packaged into the Jazz Gunung Series which includes Jazz Gunung Ijen, Jazz Gunung Bromo, Jazz Gunung Slamet, and Jazz Gunung Burangrang.

This event was created by three friends, Sigit Pramono, Butet Kartaredjasa, and the late Djaduk Ferianto, who wanted to unite music and the beauty of nature. The harmonious combination of music, mountainous nature, and the audience creates the "Beauty of Jazz, the Melody of the Mountains."

This annual event is always filled with audiences ranging from adults to young people who not only love jazz music but also the beauty of the Bromo mountain foot. Mr. Sigit, as one of the pioneers of this event, confirmed that 85% of the visitors are millennials and Gen Z from various cities throughout Indonesia.

3. A Platform for Young Musicians Regeneration

Jazz Gunung Indonesia supports and shows great commitment to the development of jazz music by initiating Bromo Jazz Camp. Planned two years ago by Bagas Indyatmono, Sri Hanuraga, and Cak Hend, the Bromo Jazz Camp program was successfully held with the help of several prominent musicians and trainers, such as Kevin Yosua, Sri Hanuraga, and Hansen Arief. Bromo Jazz Camp aims to provide intensive training and performance opportunities for young musicians and collaborate with professional musicians.

BCA emphasizes the importance of creating a positive impact on society and the environment, as well as supporting the development of the national music and tourism industry. BRImo is also committed to supporting the jazz music industry and promoting cashless transactions among young people.

Jazz Gunung Bromo is not only an ordinary annual music event, but also a platform to promote the natural beauty and Indonesian art, as well as advance the creative economy in the Bromo mountain area.

5. Elfa's Singers Enliven the Stage of Jazz Gunung Bromo 2024

The legendary group that has been actively singing for 45 years was warmly welcomed by the audience. Lita Zen, Ucie Nurul, Agus Wisman, and Yana Julio appeared in sparkling outfits that made this music group even more fittingly called the ABBA of Indonesia.

Not only that, the audience also showed great enthusiasm when Elfa's Singers invited them to sing the song titled Masa Kecilku. The voices of the audience singing along successfully moved Elfa's Singers.

6. Unique Project Ring of Fire feat Brasszigur Brassband & Ndaru Ndarboy

Ring of Fire was initiated by the late Djaduk Ferianto in 2010 and always features collaborators with their own charm. This time, they collaborated with Brasszigur Brassband and Ndaru Ndarboy.

The unique combination of ethnic sounds from the archipelago with jazz composition, along with the musical touch from Ndaru Ndarboy, concluded the series of performances on the first day of Jazz Gunung Bromo.

7. Vina Panduwinata duets with the audience

Together with FIERY, Vina Panduwinata performs their work at Jazz Gunung Bromo 2024. Mama Ina - Vina Panduwinata's nickname, also tells stories and gives a little advice to the audience. "Never feel like the most senior. We seniors also learn a lot from the young ones," she said.

One of the highlights on the second day, a lucky audience member duets with Vina singing King Nassar's song "Seperti Mati Lampu" at Jazz Gunung Bromo 2024.

8. New Arrangement: Gigi Jazz Project

In this performance, Gigi presents their latest project that combines jazz music with their songs. They involve several wind instruments to complete the composition and perform Gigi's legendary hits. "Janji," "Perihal Cinta," "Melayang," and "Ya Ya Ya" close the excitement of Gigi Jazz Project's performance.
