Joyland Festival 2024 Brings St. Vincent, Hyukoh, and Bombay Bicycle Club, Ready to Liven Up Jakarta

Kapanlagi.com - The Joyland Festival is set to take place on November 22-24, 2024, at the GBK Basketball Hall, Senayan, Central Jakarta. This annual festival will feature a number of local and international musicians, with headliners such as St. Vincent, South Korean band Hyukoh, and British band Bombay Bicycle Club.

Joyland Program Director, Ferry Dermawan, explained that bringing St. Vincent to this festival is a challenging endeavor. Ferry acknowledged it took two years to finally secure the presence of the female musician known as a guitar icon and a significant influence in the music world.

"St. Vincent is interesting, not just as a musician, but she is also quite iconic as a female guitarist," Ferry revealed in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (14/11/2024).

1. There is Hyukoh

In addition to St. Vincent, Ferry also discussed the presence of Hyukoh, an alternative rock band from South Korea that is currently on an Asian tour. Hyukoh, along with the Taiwanese group, Sunset Rollercoaster, will collaborate on the Joyland stage this time.

"This is their final stage in the Asian tour, as well as part of the promotion for their latest album," explained Ferry.

Ferry also highlighted the return of Bombay Bicycle Club to Indonesia. This British band last performed in Jakarta in 2012, and according to Ferry, their music, which is “jogetable” or fun to dance to, is able to attract a lot of audience interest.

2. Special Performance by Efek Rumah Kaca

"Their performance indeed adds to the appeal, as evidenced by the high ticket sales," he said.

From the homeland, the Joyland Festival will also be enlivened by a special performance from Efek Rumah Kaca, who will again present repertoire from the Rimpang Concert. In addition, Majelis Lidah Berduri will showcase a theatrical performance, while Hindia and Lomba Sihir will present their acts on the Magic Stage.

3. Various Interesting Programs

White Shoes & The Couples Company will act as curators for the Lily Pad stage, showcasing new and experimental artists from both domestic and international backgrounds. The performers on this stage include Teenage Death Star, The Panturas, as well as The 5.6.7.8’s from Japan and Park Daham from South Korea. DJ Masaya Fantasista and Mikey Varot from Japan will also enliven this stage.

In addition to musical performances, the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 offers various interesting programs that enrich the visitor experience. One of them is Shrooms Garden, which will present comedy from comedians, hosted by Soleh Solihun. Not to be missed, Joyland Village is also present to support local businesses and the family-friendly White Peacock area.

This festival also features Cinerillaz, an outdoor cinema that screens a selection of short films curated by renowned director Joko Anwar. This program is expected to provide a different experience for visitors who want to enjoy quality entertainment amidst the festival atmosphere.
