Melly Goeslaw Tells the Process of Recording Rafathar's Album 'MASTERPIECES', Assisted by Nagita Slavina and Lala

Kapanlagi.com - Melly Goeslaw has just released an album titled MASTERPIECES. This album contains Melly Goeslaw's hit songs sung by several Indonesian singers with different arrangements from before.

However, what is interesting about this album is that Melly Goeslaw involves child artists, namely Rafathar Malik Ahmad, the son of Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina, and Arsy Addara Musicia Nurhermansyah, the daughter of Anang Hermansyah and Ashanty. Melly also revealed her reason for involving these two artist's children.

"I just wanted to involve children in this album. Because the consumption of children's songs in Indonesia is minimal. Children singers are also almost non-existent now. We also don't have enough time for auditions because of Covid," said Melly Goeslaw when contacted by KapanLagi.com, Wednesday (2/2).

"Finally, I chose one of the children of my friends, Arsy and Rafathar," she continued.

1. Song Selection

From her hundreds of songs, Melly Goeslaw chose the song Catatanku to be sung by Rafathar Malik Ahmad and the song Bunda to be performed by Arsy Addara Musicia Nurhermansyah.

"Out of the many songs, only about ten were chosen. And then there are two songs, Bunda and Catatanku, that were selected. Those songs are actually meant for children, but because I sang Bunda in a mature way, it became like an adult song, but it's a universal song," said Melly Goeslaw.

2. Rafathar Resembles Young Baim

Melly Goeslaw also shared the recording process of Rafathar, which reminded her of the artist Baim Cilik. As known, the song Catatanku was sung by Melly Goeslaw in a duet with Baim Cilik back in 2009.

"Rafathar was the most difficult, but also funny. When Rafathar sang, it was exactly the same as Baim Cilik's recording, without any music. I dictated it to him and he sang it, and then we added the music to it as long as it didn't sound off," she explained.

3. Assisted by Nagita Slavina and Lala

Melly Goeslaw revealed that the recording process of Rafathar was quite difficult because it was during the PPKM (Enforcement of Restrictions on Public Activities). Therefore, the recording had to be done separately and they could only communicate online. However, Melly Goeslaw was grateful because she was assisted by Nagita Slavina and Rafathar's caregiver, Lala.

"Well, Rafathar's process was like that too, but Rafathar had a harder time because it was during the PPKM. Rafathar couldn't come to my house, and I couldn't go to his house either. So, the recording was really done at Rafathar's house with Lala and Gigi, and then sent to me by email. Then we connected the pieces like a puzzle," said Melly Goeslaw.

4. Recording Process of Arsy

Meanwhile, Melly Goeslaw admitted that the recording process of Arsy was easier because it was done in Anang Hermansyah's studio.

"As for Arsy, her recording was easier because her recording was done after the PPKM. So, she recorded in her own studio because Anang has a studio," she concluded.

Melly Goeslaw is trusted again to work on a film soundtrack. The song titled Tabu was created by Melly Goeslaw for the film MERINDU CAHAYA DE AMSTEL starring Amanda Rawles, Bryan Domani, and Rachel Amanda.

Meanwhile, Brisia Jodie was chosen to sing the song. Melly Goeslaw explained her reasons for choosing the Indonesian Idol graduate to sing the song.

"So, when I work on a soundtrack, the singer must be compatible. If singer A is recommended, I don't want it. If singer B is recommended, I don't want it. But when Jodie was recommended, I had a different thought that, according to me, is out of the box, if Jodie sings related to the story in this film," said Melly Goeslaw at CGV Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta some time ago.
