Nostalgic at Java Jazz Festival 2022, Mutia Ayu Sings the Song 'Selesai' by the Late Glenn Fredly

Kapanlagi.com - The second day of the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival (BNIJJF2022) was held on Friday (27/5/2022). Several jazz musicians from Indonesia and abroad were present at the event, including Andmesh, Erwin Gutawa, Vina Panduwinata, and Maliq & D'Essentials.

Among the many bands that performed on the first day of the Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival (BNIJJF2022), there was also a performance by The Bakuucakar that caught the attention of thousands of spectators. The Bakuucakar was the backing band for the late Glenn Fredly for more than 10 years.

The Bakuucakar consists of Rayendra Sunito, Rifka Rachman, Bonar Abraham, Andre Dinuth, Harry Anggoman, Kenna Lango, and Nicky Manuputty. The presence of The Bakuucakar seemed to invite the audience to reminisce with Glenn Fredly's songs.

The Bakuicakar opened their performance with the single My Everything. As soon as the song started playing, the audience sang along together. The Bakuicakar's performance truly brought the audience back in time.

During their performance, videos of Glenn Fredly were also shown on the stage screen. Upon seeing the video, many spectators immediately shouted out their longing upon seeing Glenn Fredly's face. For the second song, The Bakuucakar performed their own song titled Love.

1. Glenn Fredly Must Be Happy

This is the second song they released after Glenn's passing. In the song Love, Rifka Rachman, the sequencer/guitar player, stepped forward to the stage and sang. Then, the audience also sang Love together.

After singing the song, Rifka briefly talked to the audience. According to her, Glenn must be happy to see The Bakuucakar still alive and entertaining many people at BNI Java Jazz 2022.

"I'm sure, Bung must be happy. He must be watching and dancing with us," said Rifka from the stage.

2. Emotional Performance of Mutia Ayu

Then, they continued their stage performance with the songs Sedih Tak Berujung and Akhir Cerita Cinta together with young singer, Nikita Becker. Nikita Becker's version of Sedih Tak Berujung was very emotional.

The Voice contestant was able to perform excellently and was proof of the regeneration that Glenn Fredly had been aspiring for since long ago. After that, there was a very special guest who wore a blue mini dress on stage. She was Mutia Ayu, Glenn Fredly's wife who performed on stage singing a song titled Selesai.

Mutia Ayu's performance felt special, she performed a duet with Glenn's recorded voice. On stage, Mutia Ayu looked strong when singing the song Selesai. Mutia Ayu has accepted and wants to continue to remember the good things she has gone through with Glenn.

3. Tompi and Sandhy Sondoro

Not only that, Sandhy Sondoro and Tompi were also present and performed the songs Tega and Gelora Cintaku. However, Sandhy Sondoro and Tompi did not sing Glenn Fredly's songs on stage.

"I can't perform Glenn's songs, they're too heavy. But, I'm sure Glenn is happy up there, so let's dance like Bung usually does on stage," said Tompi.
