Sabang Merauke Performance to Be Held Again This Year, Featuring a Number of Famous Indonesian Musicians

A celebration event with hundreds of performing artists in Yogyakarta was held specifically to welcome the event that is planned to be held in 2023.

Pagelaran Sabang Merauke with live performances, combining various music arts from regional and national songs, traditional and modern dances, regional and ethnic Indonesian costumes, will be able to attract the attention of the public, especially the younger generation, to love the various cultural heritage of the Indonesian nation even more.

Unlike last year's event, Vice President Director of iForte, Silvi Liswanda said that this year's Sabang Merauke Exhibition will be more magnificent and spectacular as it involves more than 300 Indonesian artists. Various traditional and modern dances will accompany 31 regional and national songs, which will be presented by a number of well-known musicians in the country.

The performers include Isyana Sarasvati, Cantika Abigail, Swain Mahisa, Alsant Nababan, Taufan Purbo, Mirabeth Sonia, Christine Tambunan, Nino Prabowo, Yuyun Arfah, Gabriel Harvianto, Batavia Madrigal Singers, and Jakarta Concert Orchestra led by Avip Priatna, musicians Dian HP, Ammir Gita, Meidy Ratnasari, Kiki Dunung, senior cultural figure Butet Kertaradjasa, dance artist Mugiyono Kasido, Gunk Mas, Abib Igal, Okvalica, ventriloquist Kak Tony, and MC Indra Bekti and Endah Laras.

This year's Sabang Merauke Exhibition is planned to be held at the JIEXPO Theater Kemayoran on August 19-20 with a total of 4 shows.

"Sabang Merauke Exhibition will maintain its concept as a colossal performance of Indonesian arts and culture. If last year's theme was 'Mother Earth', then this year's theme is 'National Heroes'. Leading designers in Indonesia such as Ivan Gunawan, Era Soekamto, Danny Satriadi, Denny Wirawan, Ghea Panggabean, Taufik Bachtiar, Iwan Tirta, will showcase their works in a fashion show of Indonesian ethnic wear, which will be presented by Miss Mega Bintang 2023 and Miss Grand Indonesia Ritassya Wellgreat. It is hoped that this event will generate greater pride in our nation's culture and be beneficial for a more harmonious national life," she said.

In the celebration event, Sabang Merauke Performance Director Rusmedi Agus, Sabang Merauke Performance Choreographer Sandhidea Cahyo Narpati, singers who will perform in Sabang Merauke Performance such as Swain Mahisa, Alsant Nababan, Taufan Purbo, Mirabeth Sonia, Christine Tambunan, Nino Prabowo, Yuyun Arfah, designer Era Soekamto, Taufik Bachtiar, Linda Griya Ageman, Anggoro Kancil, MC Endah Laras, and stage expert Iskandar Loedin, as well as hundreds of dance and music artists were also present.

In a separate occasion, Isyana Sarasvati expressed her enthusiasm in preparing for the Sabang Merauke Performance day. "Of course, I am very happy and proud to be involved in Sabang Merauke Performance. Personally, I get to know more and more about the amazing richness of Indonesian arts and culture. Together with other fellow artists, of course, I want to give the best performance in Sabang Merauke Performance later," said the singer of the song Tetap Dalam Jiwa.

For information, Sabang Merauke Performance was first held in the courtyard of Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta in February 2022, which then continued at Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta in early June 2022. Receiving positive responses, this performance was then held again in November 2022 at Ciputra Artpreneur. In each performance, Sabang Merauke Performance always involves hundreds of performing artists, both traditional and national, to present various Indonesian arts and culture.
