Staying Productive Amidst the Pandemic, Blok-S Band Presents Something New

Kapanlagi.com - In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the band group Blok-S remains productive and produces new works. This is evidenced by the band, consisting of Jawir (Bass), Ipang (Vocals), Arai (Guitar), and Bongki (Drums), who have just released a new single titled "Goyang Gobes".

Not only releasing a new single, but simultaneously with the release of the single "Goyang Bobes", Blok-S also introduces their newest drummer named Bongki.

"Why did we invite them to join the MIC Project, because the band Blok-S has uniqueness in their songs. Their songs are light and entertaining. They also have many fans abroad, in Singapore and Malaysia. They also participated in Indonesia Got Talent. They also have a new member now," said Ipang at CS Rooftop, Promade Building, Bangka Raya, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/6/2020).

What's interesting is that, in addition to introducing new singles and members, this band, which was formed in 2004, officially changed its name to Blok-S under the auspices of the MIC Project. Previously, the band, which gained popularity through the song "Lagunya Kaga Enak", was named Go Block-S and became the talk of the town in the Indonesian Got Talent event.

"Of course, there is a reason why that name is attached to the band with a large number of members in the Blok S area. There are many prayers and hopes that want to be conveyed. Hopefully, with the new name and the presence of this new single, it can be accepted by the community," said Ipang.

2. Name Change

The name change from Go Blok-S to Blok-S is because it is often associated with other meanings. This makes them feel uncomfortable. One of the reasons why Go Blok-S changed its name to Blok-S.

"Actually, Goblok S is the story of us being street musicians from Blok S. That's why when asked where we're going on a daily basis, we answer Go Blok S. It means going to Blok S," said Ipang.

"In English, it can also be interpreted as Go Blok S. Meanwhile, S can also be interpreted as success. Besides, when we're performing, we often get called "Goblok" by the MC, which eventually becomes uncomfortable," Ipang concluded.
