Voice of Baceprot Voices Environmental Issues Through the Song 'Mighty Island'

Since 2021, the band, consisting of Firda Marsya Kurnia (guitar/vocals), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Sitti Aisah (drums), has begun to explore the relationship between humans and nature. They investigate how human actions have become the main cause of increasingly severe environmental destruction.

Through the song Mighty Island, VoB not only delivers satire but also incorporates elements of Sundanese proverbs created by Marsya, the vocalist. The song clearly depicts feelings of anger and fear about a bleak future due to the destruction of nature.

In terms of musicality, Mighty Island is filled with the roar of distortion that serves as an introduction to the spicy lyrics about how humans have become the main destroyers of the earth's ecosystem. The strong message conveyed by VoB highlights the destruction of nature such as deforestation, ocean pollution, poaching, and the increasingly rampant climate crisis.

VoB deliberately emphasizes the word "Island" in the title of this song as a symbol representing the earth that was once beautiful, now threatened with extinction due to the greed of the powerful and the indifference of society. For them, this island is a metaphor reflecting the condition of the earth that is increasingly eroded by human behavior.

Not stopping there, VoB also presents the lyric video of Mighty Island uploaded through their official YouTube account. The launch of this video is part of their efforts to spread their message and voice to a wider audience.

“This is one of our ways to amplify this voice of unrest. We also see this as a step to reclaim a home for our works,” said Marsya VoB.

“We hope that public awareness can be awakened and sanity stirred before it is truly too late,” she added.
