Kapanlagi.com - Many people still misunderstand the difference between mochi and daifuku. Mochi is a type of Japanese rice cake that serves as the base for chewy balls. Glutinous rice is pounded to become a sticky paste, then shaped according to preference, but more commonly formed into balls.
Daifuku is mochi that has been filled with sweet ingredients, such as red bean paste, chocolate, and fruit. Daifuku with strawberry filling has gone viral on social media. It turns out, making it is quite easy and can be done at home.
Here is the recipe for making daifuku, summarized on Monday (26/2/2024)

Prepare the dough, chocolate filling, and strawberries.
Apply a little oil on your hands to prevent sticking.
Wrap the strawberry with the chocolate filling, then wrap it again with the mochi dough.
After forming a ball, roll it in the toasted cornstarch.
Serve or refrigerate first.
In addition to its delicious taste, daifuku also has various benefits, including:
Energy source, daifuku contains complex carbohydrates that can provide energy and help stabilize blood sugar.
Source of calcium, the milk contained in daifuku becomes a source of calcium that can promote healthy bones and teeth.
Gluten-free, made from glutinous rice flour so it does not contain gluten.
Apparently, daifuku has been around since the Edo period (1603-1867) in a larger form. Harubuto-Mochi was the original name for daifuku, which means "fat stomach" because it had a large enough size to make you full.
So, mochi daifuku is a mochi cake filled with red bean paste and strawberry pieces. This unique combination of filling makes mochi daifuku popular because it is not boring. As for the outer part, mochi daifuku is the same as other mochi variants.
These mochi with various fillings are one of the typical Japanese snacks that you can bring as souvenirs. Daifuku usually contains red bean paste. However, Daifuku with halal certification is filled with delicious sweet cream that will make anyone addicted to try it!
Although healthier, mochi is still a food that contains high carbohydrates. Therefore, limit consumption and do not consume excessively.
In the past, farmers consumed mochi as a food that could increase stamina and warm the body in winter. Mochi contains a considerable amount of calories and is gluten and cholesterol-free, making it safe to consume for many people.
Apparently, mochi is a rice cake used as the base ingredient for those ball-shaped snacks. On the other hand, mochi that has been filled with red bean paste or fruit is called daifuku.
