1) Intention (niat)

2) Standing upright (for those who are able)

3) Uttering the takbir four times

4) Raising the hands during the first takbir (takbiratul ikhram)

5) Reciting Surah Al-Fatihah

7) Offering supplication for the deceased

8) Salam (greeting)

1) Reciting the Intention for Funeral Prayer for Male Deceased:

Usholli 'alaa haadzihil mayyiti arba'a takbiratatin fardhol kifayaatai mamuuman lillahi ta'ala.

Meaning:

"I intend to perform the funeral prayer for this deceased with four takbirs, as an obligatory collective duty, as a follower of Allah Ta'ala."

2) Reciting the first takbir:

Allahu akbar

Meaning:

"Allah is the Greatest"

3) Then reciting al-Fatihah:

Bismillahir-rahmanir-rahim. Alhamdu lillahi rabbil-'alamin. Ar-Rahmanir-Rahim. Maaliki yaumid-diin.Iyyaaka na'budu wa iyyaaka nasta'iin.Ihdinash-shiraathal-mustaqiim.Shiraathalladziina an'amta 'alaihim gairil-magdzuubi 'alaihim wa ladh-dhaalliin.Amiin.

Translation:

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment.You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Tunjukilah kami jalan yang lurus, (yaitu) jalan orang-orang yang telah Engkau beri nikmat kepadanya; bukan (jalan) mereka yang dimurkai, dan bukan (pula jalan) mereka yang sesat.

4) Membaca takbir kedua:

Allahu akbar

Translation:

"Show us the straight path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor the path of those who have gone astray."

5) Dilanjutkan sholawat:

Allahumma sholli alaa muhammad wa ala aali muhammad.Kamaa sholaita ala ibroohim wa ala aali ibroohim.Innaka hamiidun majiid.wa baarik ala muhammad wa ala aali muhammad.Kamaa baarokta ala ibroohim wa ala aali ibroohim.Fil aalamiina Innaka hamidun majiid.

Translation:

"O Allah, bestow Your blessings upon Prophet Muhammad.O Allah, bestow Your blessings upon the family of Prophet Muhammad, as You have bestowed blessings upon Prophet Ibrahim and his family, and grant blessings upon Prophet Muhammad and his family, as You have granted blessings upon Prophet Ibrahim and his family, Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious in all the worlds."

6) Membaca takbir ketiga:

Allahu akbar

Translation:

"Allah is the Greatest."

7) Dilanjut membaca doa sholat jenazah laki-laki:

Allohummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa'aafihi wa'fu 'anhu

Translation:

"O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him safety, and pardon him." Forgive the deceased, grant him your mercy, peace, and forgive his mistakes.

8) Recite the fourth takbir:

Allahu akbar

Meaning:

"Allah is the Greatest"

9) Continue by reciting the second funeral prayer:

Allohumma laa tahrimnaa ajrohu wa laa taftinnaa ba'dahu waghfirlanaa walahu

Meaning:

"O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not test us after him. Forgive us and forgive him."

10) Perform the salam by turning to the right and left while remaining standing.

Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh

Meaning:

"May peace be upon you."

3. Recitation of Funeral Prayer for Women and Its Procedures

Other than that, the procedure is the same as the funeral prayer for a man. However, there are differences in the recitation. 1) Recite the Intention for the Funeral Prayer of a Woman:

Usholli 'alaa haadzihil mayyitati arba'a takbiratatin fardhol kifayaatai ma'muuman lillahi ta'aala.

Meaning:

"I intend to perform the funeral prayer for this deceased with four takbirs, obligatory as a sufficiency, as a follower of Allah Ta'ala."

2) Recite the first takbir:

Allahu akbar

Meaning:

"Allah is the Greatest"

3) Continue by reciting Al-Fatihah:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. Iyyaaka na'budu wa iyyaaka nasta'iin.Ihdinash-shiraathal-mustaqiim.Shiraathalladziina an'amta 'alaihim gairil-magdzuubi 'alaihim wa ladh-dhaalliin.Amiin.

"O Allah, bestow Your mercy upon Prophet Muhammad.O Allah, bless the family of Prophet Muhammad, as You have bestowed mercy upon the family of Prophet Ibrahim, and bless Prophet Muhammad and his family, as You have blessed Prophet Ibrahim and his family. Indeed, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious in all the worlds."

6) Recite the third takbir:

Allahu akbar

Meaning:

"Allah is the Greatest"

7) Continue with the prayer for a deceased woman:

Allahummagh firlahaa waa warhamhaa wa'aafihaa wa'fuanhaa.

Meaning:

"O Allah! Forgive her, have mercy on her, grant her well-being, and pardon her mistakes."

8) Recite the fourth takbir:

Allahu akbar

Meaning:

"Allah is the Greatest"

9) Continue with the second prayer:

Allahumma la tahrim naa ajrahaa walaa taftinnaa ba'dahaa waghfirlanaa walahaa.

Meaning:

"O Allah, do not deprive us of her reward and do not test us after her departure." Forgive us and forgive him."

10) Perform the salam by turning to the right and left while standing.

"Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh"
