The first virtue of tahajud prayer is that it can become a practice that will help you in the Hereafter. In Surah Az-Zariyat, verses 15-18, it is mentioned that those who consistently perform tahajud prayer will, God willing, receive a fair reward bestowed by Allah when they are in the Hereafter.

In those verses, it is clearly stated:

"Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and springs, taking whatever their Lord has given them. They used to be people who did good in the world, and they were people of little sleep at night. And in the latter part of the night, they would seek forgiveness from Allah." (Quran, Az-Zariyat: 15-18).

"Indeed, Allah takes pride in His servants in front of the angels when the servant gets up from their sleep and leaves their family to perform prayer, and Allah accepts that servant." (Habib Abdullah bin Alwi al-Haddad, Risalatul Mu'awanah wal-Mudzaharah wal-Muazarah, [Darul Hawi: 1994], p. 40-41).

The next benefit of tahajud prayer is that one's prayers will be answered by Allah SWT. Especially if someone performs it at its prime time, which is the last third of the night. As Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Our Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains, and He says: 'Whoever seeks forgiveness from Me, I shall forgive him; whoever seeks something from Me, I shall grant him; and whoever supplicates to Me, I shall answer him.'" (HR. Bukhari).

Tahajud prayer is a habit of the righteous. Surely, these righteous individuals know the proper way to perform tahajud prayer and the amazing benefits it brings to themselves.
