Kapanlagi.com - Elah Karmilah becomes one of the oldest candidates who will sit in the Sumedang Regional People's Representative Council. The 61-year-old woman passed the 2024 General Elections with a high number of votes in Sumedang Electoral District V.
This PPP Party cadre obtained a total of 13,098 votes from Sumedang Electoral District V which includes Cimanggung and Jatinangor Subdistricts. As a result, this woman born in 1963 passed to the Sumedang Regional People's Representative Council.
"Alhamdulilah the election went peacefully and successfully. Thanks to the trust of all of you who have brought me to be a selected candidate with the most votes. This is not a personal victory, but a collective victory," said Elah, on Sunday (24/3/2024).
"Even though I didn't have billboards or banners, I am grateful for the most votes," she continued.

Although she is no longer young, Elah is determined to bring the aspirations of the community in the Sumedang Regional People's Representative Council, especially in the Cimanggung and Jatinangor areas.
"I am determined to build effective and sustainable communication, and to be a strong and qualified representative in the Regional People's Representative Council," said Elah.
"By strengthening communication and connections with the community, I believe I can fight for their aspirations with the hope of achieving success in the upcoming elections," she said.

Elah also encourages Dony Ahmad Munir to run for a second term as the leader of Sumedang Regency. Elah is even ready to mobilize her volunteers, called 'Barela' (Friends of Elah Karmilah), to support Dony Ahmad Munir in the Sumedang Regional Election. Furthermore, her son, Denden Imanudin Soleh, is encouraged to accompany Dony.
Meanwhile, Denden himself expressed his desire to 'return home' and contribute to the development of Sumedang. However, he is still considering it due to his current status as a civil servant.
"Yes, it came up from the volunteers. As a local son, who wouldn't want to return home? But, the thing is, my position today is still as a civil servant, which means there are many considerations, such as whether it is the right time for me to return and other dynamics that are still ongoing. As Pak Dony also mentioned, this process is still long. But we accept this discourse as a form of support," he said.
