"Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa, Al-Hayyul-Qayyum, la ta'khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm, lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil-ard, man dhal-ladhi yashfa'u 'indahu illa bi-idhnihi, ya'lamu ma baina aidihim wa ma khalfahum, wa la yuhituna bi shai'in min 'ilmihi illa bima sha'a, wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ard, wa la ya'uduhu hifdhuhuma wa Huwal 'Aliyyul-Adhim."

Meaning: Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

2. Becoming a Leader of Quranic Verses

The virtue of the first verse of Ayat Kursi is that it becomes the leader of the verses in the holy book of the Quran. A hadith narrated by Tirmidhi reveals that,

"Everything has its peak, and the peak of the Quran is Surah Al-Baqarah, in which there is a verse that leads all the verses of the Quran, namely Ayat Kursi." (HR. Tirmidhi)

In addition, in another hadith, it is mentioned that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Ayat Kursi is a blessed verse, nothing opens difficulties, removes disasters, and eliminates sadness faster than Ayat Kursi." (HR. Imam Abu Hamid Bin Muhammad Al-Ghazali)

3. Effective Prayers

This is because Ayat Kursi contains the greatest name of Allah, which is al hayyu al qayyuum.

This is mentioned in a hadith that states: "The greatest name of Allah, when recited in a prayer, will definitely be answered, and it is found in three places, namely Surah Al-Baqarah, Surah Al-Imran, and Surah Taha." (HR. Ibn Majah)

The three verses mentioned in the above hadith are Surah Al-Baqarah verse 255 or Ayat Kursi, then Surah Al-Imran verses 1-2, and Surah Taha verse 111. All of them are extraordinary verses in the Quran when we frequently recite them with sincere intentions.

4. Key to Enter Heaven

"Whoever recites Ayat Kursi after every obligatory prayer, there will be no barrier for them to enter heaven except death." (HR. Thabrani)

Furthermore, in the book Al-Faidh Al-Qudsi, it is mentioned that, "Whoever continues to recite Ayat Kursi will become a chosen, esteemed, and honored person by society, as well as in the sight of Allah SWT, in this world and the hereafter."

From all the above hadiths, it is known how extraordinary Ayat Kursi is. It can even be a key for someone to enter the heaven of Allah SWT just by reciting this verse with sincere intention and for the sake of Allah Ta'ala.

5. Self-Protection from Jin, Satan, and Magic

For a Muslim, it is not unfamiliar that Ayat Kursi can be a place for someone to seek protection from Allah SWT against jin, Satan, and dangerous magic. As the Prophet Muhammad SAW said,

"'Laa ilaaha illallah is my fortress. Whoever recites it, he enters my fortress. And whoever enters my fortress, he will be safe from my punishment."

In the above statement, it is interpreted that by seeking protection from Allah SWT, we will enter the fortress of Allah SWT. We will be safe, even from the punishment of Allah SWT. Therefore, jin, Satan, or magic will have no power.

6. Key to Sustenance

In fact, reciting Ayat Kursi becomes a key to sustenance for those who recite it regularly. In a story, it is narrated that when a companion said he was not married due to a lack of funds, the Prophet instructed him to recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Kafirun, Surah Al-Zalzalah, Surah An-Nasr, and Ayat Kursi.

Those who recite Ayat Kursi frequently, God willing, will be facilitated in obtaining sustenance and finding a spouse. That is why those who find it difficult to obtain sustenance or a spouse can recite Ayat Kursi regularly because of Allah Ta'ala.

7. Rewards of Martyrdom

And the last one is to become a reward in martyrdom. This is mentioned in a hadith that says,

"Whoever recites the verse of the Throne after every prayer, then Allah Himself will take out his soul, and he will be like someone who fought alongside the prophets until he achieved martyrdom." (HR. Hakim)

Even in a story where the Prophet Muhammad SAW never stopped reciting the verse of the Throne, many victories have been achieved in battles and many doors of ease have been opened by Allah SWT for the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Prophet once said

"Whoever learns the verse of the Throne and knows its rights, Allah will open 8 doors of paradise for him, and he can enter whichever door he pleases."
