Unable to Resist, Repeat Offender in Malang Mistakenly Extorts the Police

The perpetrator tried to escape as soon as he realized that the car he stopped belonged to an officer, but he couldn't resist and was successfully apprehended. The suspect has been causing trouble in the community by demanding money or extorting passing vehicles.

"This perpetrator extorted because he is used to extortion. Unfortunately, it turns out that the one he wanted to extort was our officer's car," said AKBP Hendri Umar, the Chief of Malang Police, in his statement on Thursday (13/5).
At that time, the Investigation Unit V of Malang Police was investigating a case when a car cut them off and forced them to stop. The perpetrator's Nissan Grand Livina with license plate AB 1460 MZ, a white car, crossed their path and forced the officers to stop.

1. 4 Times Undergo Legal Process

After both vehicles stopped, two people came out of the car, one of whom was known to be a repeat offender. The offender has been involved in cases of robbery with violence and has undergone legal process four times.

Once they realized that the car stopped belonged to an officer, the offender and his friend tried to escape. However, they were later apprehended through physical action.

2. Status as a Wanted Person

"After being successfully apprehended, the offender claimed that he thought the officer's car belonged to a debt collector or a cigarette salesman who would ask for protection money," he explained.

After checking at the Dampit Police Station, it turned out that the offender had a wanted status for a case of assault in December 2016. Yoyon, who is known as Desa Bumirejo, Dampit District, Malang Regency, must undergo legal process for his old case.
