Unnatural Death, Police Investigate Suspected Murder of Grandmother Wurlin

Kapanlagi.com - The Malang Police are currently investigating the case of the unnatural death of a grandmother in her home in Dusun Manggisari, Bocek Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency.

Grandmother Wurlin (70) was found dead with several wounds on Tuesday (6/7) at 7:00 a.m. It is suspected that she was a victim of violence that caused her death.

"The investigation is still ongoing, there are already some leads pointing to the perpetrator, but I cannot provide details yet, we are still waiting for the operation to finish," explained the Malang Police Chief, AKBP Ferli Hidayat in his message to Merdeka.com, Tuesday (6/7).

Grandmother Wurlin's daily life was spent living with her grandson U (17) who was also found covered in blood about 100 meters away. The grandson suffered lacerations on his neck and stomach.

"We are still investigating the motive behind this incident. Please give us time to update. We are still focusing on collecting evidence and obtaining statements from witnesses, but we already have some leads," he added.

The Head of Criminal Investigation, AKP Donny Kristian Baralangi, added that his personnel had conducted a crime scene investigation. One of the pieces of evidence found was a knife that was suspected to have been used by the perpetrator. In addition, the victim's belongings were also found with stains that were suspected to be the victim's blood.

"At the scene of the incident, we also found a cellphone that we strongly suspect belonged to the victim. Based on the initial analysis by the investigators on the field, it is suspected that this incident was a criminal act of violence that resulted in the victim's death. Because some of the victim's valuable belongings were not taken by the suspect," he explained.

2. Seven Witnesses Examined

Police have examined seven witnesses to investigate the alleged murder case. The witnesses are from the victim's neighbors, relatives, and those who helped the victim.

"The victim, named Wurlin, died with a wound on the back of her head, which is suspected to be caused by a blunt object," said AKP Donny.

3. Condition of the Victim When First Found

According to Merdeka.com on the scene, the residents initially found the victim, U, covered in blood beside a cassava tree garden. The victim was in a severe condition and asked for help from witnesses, but could not speak due to wounds on her neck and stomach.

"She couldn't speak, just moaned, and her stomach was also torn," explained Tasim, a neighbor in front of the victim's house.

Tasim admitted that he was weaving bamboo next to his house when the injured victim U suddenly arrived. The victim collapsed not far from where he was weaving.

The grandmother's body, Wurlin, was taken to Saiful Anwar Malang Hospital for autopsy, while her grandson was also being treated at the same hospital.
