Unstable Weather, This Disease Also Needs to Be Alerted Besides COVID-19

DBD has cases in Indonesia every year, according to records from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, there were 110,921 cases of DBD in Indonesia in 2019. This number has increased from 2018, with a total of 65,602 cases.

2. DBD Spread through the Bite of Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes

If COVID-19 is caused by the Corona virus or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that attacks the respiratory system, then DBD is caused by an infection of the Dengue virus which is spread through the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

During the rainy season, mosquitoes will hatch their eggs in water. Climate changes such as alternating rain and heat for several days allow Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to breed freely. This is because these mosquitoes prefer to live in areas with high humidity and warm weather.

According to Mongabay, there has been a change in the behavior of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which used to only bite in the morning and afternoon, but now can bite during the night until dawn and breed at altitudes above 1,000 meters above sea level. Interestingly, this has never happened before.

3. Effective Ways to Combat the Spread of Dengue Fever

However, you can apply effective ways to eradicate the spread of dengue fever.
