Recently, Zaskia Adya Mecca shared her story of her first time managing her own mosque, the Salim Kamil Mosque in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. This moment felt special as it coincided with the month of Ramadan.
During this holy month, Zaskia had the opportunity to host the guests of Allah who came to worship at the mosque. Various preparations were made to ensure that the congregation could worship comfortably. Read the full story below.Â
Zaskia Adya Mecca shared that this year's Ramadan feels different for her because she has a new responsibility as the manager of the mosque. "This Ramadan truly feels different for me, very special, my heart is full, entrusted with a great new responsibility by Allah ta’ala as the manager of the mosque @kemasjidulu," she said.
Zaskia is also thinking about how to provide the best service for the congregation coming to worship at the mosque. She emphasized that the management wants to provide maximum service for the worshippers. "How can we receive Allah's guests well and maximally," she stated.
Amid various preparations, Zaskia admitted to facing challenges because the mosque's construction is not yet fully completed. "From preparing facilities, ensuring cleanliness and comfort, finding an imam, managing the schedule, handling iftar and sahur food amidst the finishing touches of the building that is not yet 100% complete (foreman mode ON)," she revealed.
Zaskia admitted that she is still a beginner in managing the mosque, so she is open to various inputs from the congregation.
Initially, the management decided not to hold night prayers in congregation. However, suggestions from the congregation regarding this activity then arose. "It turns out we received input, 'please hold congregational qiamul lail prayers at 2-3 AM, dim the lights for a more focused atmosphere.'" she said.
The input from the congregation was immediately followed up by the mosque management. Zaskia and her husband, Hanung Bramantyo, quickly coordinated so that the activity could be carried out. "Immediately, our mosque chairman @hanungbramantyo contacted the imams, thank God they agreed, and starting today we will hold night prayers in congregation." she stated.
In the same post, Zaskia also invited the community around Jagakarsa to worship at the Salim Kamil Mosque. She hopes that the mosque can become a comfortable place of worship for the local residents. She also welcomes criticism and suggestions from the congregation so that the services at the mosque can continue to improve. "Hopefully we can continue to serve well and happily to keep learning.
