Adam Deni Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison and Fined IDR 1 Billion for Proven Guilt

Kapanlagi.com - The North Jakarta District Court has sentenced defendant Adam Deni and Ni Made to four years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion or five months in prison substitute.

"Imposing a sentence on defendant 1 Adam Deni and defendant 2 Ni Made each with a prison sentence of 4 years and a fine of IDR 1 billion or five months substitute," said Chief Judge Rudi Kindarto on Tuesday (28/6/2022).

1. Guilty

The judge found Adam Deni guilty of spreading the personal documents of Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni.

This sentence is lighter than the prosecutor's demand for Adam Deni to be sentenced to eight years in prison and fined IDR 1 billion or five months in prison substitute.

It is known that this case began when Adam Deni was suspected of uploading personal documents related to the purchase of bicycles worth hundreds of millions owned by Ahmad Sahroni from a transaction with Ni Made Dwita Anggari.

Ahmad Sahroni bought two bicycles in 2020, a Firefly brand worth IDR 450 million and a Bastion brand worth IDR 378 million.

In the trial, Adam Deni and Ni Made were charged with violating Article 48 Paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 32 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) as amended and supplemented by Law Number 19 of 2016 in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

3. Heartbroken

Starting from a broken heart, Adam Deni admitted to contacting OJK (Financial Services Authority) officials to ask about Ahmad Sahroni's Ferrari car. But not long after, he admitted to being called by Ahmad Sahroni's party who apologized for his statement.

"After that night, because of my broken heart, I chatted with OJK officials asking about AS's Ferrari car. Then in the morning, I was called and he apologized for making a statement that made social media activists jealous," he said.

4. Like a Terrorist

Adam Deni called the ongoing hearing of the alleged ITE Law case special for him. How not, he appeared to be heavily escorted by long-barreled police officers, like a dangerous criminal.

Not only that, Adam Deni's both hands were handcuffed when he was about to be taken to the courtroom from the North Jakarta District Court detention room. Therefore, the 25-year-old social media activist felt like a terrorist.

"Well, today is also special. Because today I was guarded by several Sabhara (Samapta Bhayangkara) armed with long-barreled weapons from the North Jakarta Metro Police," said Adam Deni behind the iron bars of the North Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (6/4)
