Alvon Palma Highlights the Psychological Impact on Paula Verhoeven's Child: Must be Protected from Negative Information

Kapanlagi.com - The attorney for Paula Verhoeven, Alvon Kurnia Palma, has expressed great concern about the psychological impact that her client's children may suffer from her marriage to Baim Wong. In his statement, he emphasized the importance of safeguarding sensitive information that is circulating in public so as not to affect the mental condition of the children, especially in a highly scrutinized situation like their divorce case.

When met in the Mampang area of South Jakarta on Sunday (April 21, 2025), Alvon expressed his concern about narratives that could damage the psychological development of the child. According to him, the children from Paula and Baim's marriage are still at a vulnerable age and must be protected from any form of reporting that could hurt their feelings.

"The most important thing is actually that they have a family. What's even more important is that they have a family. They have children, especially since they (the children) are still small. This is still vulnerable, very vulnerable," said Alvon.

He assesses that children exposed to negative information about their parents can experience psychological trauma that leads to greater impacts in the future, both for the family and society at large.

"If those children are psychologically injured, it will create negative impacts not only for their own family, their close family, but also for the surrounding community and even for the country later on," he continued.

According to Alvon, what children hear today can influence their judgments in the future. Therefore, he hopes that society and the media will be more careful in reporting personal cases like this, including the conflict between Baim and Paula which is now a public concern.

"So that as they grow up, they can understand, oh this is actually the reality, and that reality can lead to, oh this is what happened yesterday, and I assess this is part of the judgment from the child themselves," he said.

2. Need for Special Protection

He also regrets the delivery of information that is too explicit to the public, including matters that he believes fall into the category of violations of judicial ethics.

"Well, that should also be considered a violation of ethics, right? Why wasn't it thought through to that extent, actually?" he concluded.

Alvon hopes for greater protection for children from public figures like Paula and Baim Wong, especially when their parents are facing legal processes that become public consumption.
