10 Photos of Edy Khemod Reveals Ricky Siahaan Is More Than Just a Bandmate in Seringai: Half of My Life with Him

The loss of Ricky Siahaan has had a significant emotional impact on the members of Seringai. One of the most affected is the drummer, Edy Khemod. In his statement, Khemod admitted that he finds it difficult to express the deep feelings he is experiencing. For him, Ricky was not just a coworker in the band, but an important part of his life.

"Usually, I feel disgusted talking like this, but for me, maybe in the context of family, I consider Ricky more than just a bandmate and for friends who know what our relationship is like, it has been more than just work," said Edy Khemod at the Sentosa Funeral Home, Central Jakarta, Saturday (26/4/2025).

The close relationship between Khemod and Ricky has been established for over two decades. He revealed that in almost all of his life decisions, Ricky was always there. "I spent half of my life with Ricky and in all my life decisions, Ricky is definitely there. I can't make decisions without him," he said.

For Khemot, losing Ricky is not just losing a friend, but like losing a part of himself. He feels an irreplaceable emptiness.

"So for the first time, I finally felt a loss greater than just losing a friend. So, I can't imagine what is so different, but remember there is us, Arian who paid the school fees," he said.

He also expressed his apologies if during the mourning process, the Seringai personnel seemed less sensitive. According to him, this is their way of coping with deep grief.

"We apologize to the family if we seem less sensitive, but this is how we deal with the changes since a few days in Japan," he said.

Khemod also revealed the key to the longevity of the band Seringai, which has been active for 24 years. According to him, besides having similar musical tastes, they also share the same sense of humor.

"What makes Seringai last long is not only the same musical taste but also the same sense of humor. It has been 24 years, and it continues to this day. Let's have a reunion later," he said.

Nevertheless, Khemod admits that the band's formation will never be the same again. He likened Ricky to the soul of Seringai.

"Seringai won’t be the same anymore. If I can say that Ricky is the soul of Seringai, Arian is the mind of Seringai, I am the breath of Seringai, and Sammy is the body of Seringai because he is the most handsome," he said.

The loss of Ricky made Khemod feel lost. He questioned the meaning of the band's continuity without the figure he referred to as the soul.

"But for me, in the end, if there's no soul, why should I breathe?" concluded Khemod.
