Ammar Zoni Fights Against 12-Year Sentence, Prepares 100-Page Thick Plea

Actor Ammar Zoni shows full seriousness in fighting the 12-year prison sentence imposed by the Public Prosecutor. Through his attorney, Jon Mathias, he has prepared a very thick defense note or plea to be presented in court. The document has been compiled to counter the prosecutor's arguments accusing Ammar of being involved in a narcotics distribution network.

Jon Mathias explained that the defense document was prepared based on trial facts that are considered not entirely fair for his client. He highlighted issues related to the arrest procedure and evidence in the field that will be detailed in the plea so that the judge gets a clear picture.

"We will definitely pour everything into the plea. Then the mitigating reasons, we have already prepared this. Our plea might be more than 100 pages. Because we are accompanied... just like the prosecutor, we will definitely be supported by evidence as well," said Jon Mathias when met at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Wednesday (1/4/2026).

The lawyers are very optimistic that Ammar's sentence can be reduced based on their experience handling the actor's previous cases. Jon reminded that in past cases, Ammar had received high demands of up to dozens of years, but the final outcome in court proved to be very different.

"Yes, we are all still optimistic. Because we have handled Ammar's case not just once, but this is the third time. Previously, when we handled Ammar in West Jakarta, he was sentenced to 12 years, you know. Yes, the judge's decision, we also know," he explained.

The main focus of this defense is to emphasize Ammar Zoni's position as purely a user and not a dealer. Jon Mathias stressed that as an addict, his client should receive medical treatment in the form of rehabilitation, rather than just being subjected to a very long prison sentence without any treatment.

"He is a drug abuser for himself. Moreover, we also understand that Ammar, this sick person needs to be treated, and there is no rehabilitation. Furthermore, the facts in the trial have shown us that the Salemba detention center has a drug circulation rate of almost 70 percent. Moreover, Ammar is an addict who has never been treated," he explained.

The legal team hopes that the panel of judges can consider all the evidence and expert witness statements that have been presented during the trial process. They request that Ammar's legal rights be fulfilled fairly, especially regarding the medical treatment needs of a user who is indeed suffering from addiction.

"Yes, primarily we are asking to be released. Then, as a subsidiary request, we also ask for rehabilitation. Because, as stated by the expert, the psychiatrist, the narcotics expert, the narcotics law, the investigation expert, it is clear that Ammar needs to be treated legally," concluded Jon Mathias.
