Kapanlagi.com - Prilly Latuconsina shared her experiences while filming a documentary in Kaimana, West Papua. As a diving enthusiast, this opportunity became an unforgettable experience for her, especially as she had to face various challenges in the wild. During the filming process, the unpredictable natural conditions required her to be extra cautious.

"We can't read nature. We go down, get footage or not. We go down, get footage or not. Like for example, we go down in the bay. The visibility might not be as clear as when we go down in other spots," said Prilly Latuconsina when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (25/2/2025).

"In the bay, there really isn't a meeting point. Because everything is just blue down there. So we have to be careful, afraid of getting lost. We really have to keep an eye on the team. We must not separate from the team. Because honestly, there was a really funny incident in Teluk Bicari," she continued.

1. Unforgettable Experience

One of the most memorable experiences for Prilly was when she was too excited to chase dolphins to get the best footage. However, due to limited visibility, Prilly only realized that she had separated from her team. Fortunately, one of her colleagues, Mrs. Meizani, had anticipated this and followed Prilly from behind.

"I was so eager to capture footage of the dolphins because I was holding the camera too. I ended up swimming after the dolphins. Because the visibility was only 5 meters," she revealed.

"So when I looked back, I was like, where's my team? Because she saw, oh Prilly is already swimming after the dolphins. If I didn't follow her, she would disappear. In the end, she followed me. But we ended up separated from the others," she said.

The situation became more tense when they had to find a way to get back to the group. Fortunately, both Prilly and her colleague had rescue diver certification, so they knew what steps to take in such situations.

"In the end, we made sounds, like, what is it, making noise with a wooden clapper. Like we had a stick to make noise with our diving tank. Until our team found us. Luckily, both of us were already rescue divers. So we knew what to do if we got separated from the group," she explained.

2. Defecating in the Forest

Not only challenges underwater, Prilly also had to adapt to the natural conditions on land. One of her unique experiences was being in the middle of the forest without modern facilities. She even had to dig the ground before defecating and find a way to rinse herself.

"For example, in the middle of the forest. Suddenly I need to go to the bathroom. So I have to go in the forest. It's a funny experience like that. It's like I really need to go but what can I do, I'm in the forest. So I just went for it. Defecating in the forest, dig first, dig first like that. Rinsing off, well, rinsing off in the sea. What can I do," she said while laughing.

"Then waking up at 4 AM so we can see the birds. Because the birds are really around very early in the morning. And there’s definitely no signal when we’re in the middle of it. That’s the extraordinary challenge. But that’s an unforgettable experience," Prilly concluded.
