Ashanty's Story of Acute Stress Facing Continuous Problems, Visiting a Psychiatrist Twice

Behind her smile, Ashanty is actually carrying a heavy burden that has led her to seek professional help. The wife of Anang Hermansyah admitted to visiting a psychiatrist twice due to experiencing high levels of stress.

The problems seem endless, ranging from business issues, education, to other personal matters. The singer of the song Jodohku feels that this year has been quite a heavy period in her life.

"Maybe we shouldn’t post anything because I don’t know why my problems are like this, what year is it in the zodiac? Snake, right? A lot of snakes, indeed. It feels like problems are just coming one after another," she revealed when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, Thursday (31/7/2025).

In addition to having to close Lumier's business, Ashanty is also busy with research for her doctoral studies. At the same time, she also has to face issues of fraud and land disputes.

"At the time I was studying, taking my PhD, and it was really tough because I was in the middle of research. I'm currently conducting research this semester. If everything goes smoothly, I should graduate next year, but suddenly, I got scammed by someone, I have a problem with land," she explained.

This series of problems caused her to experience sleep disturbances again, which she had previously encountered. After being examined, the doctor concluded that she was suffering from acute stress.

"I have been to a psychiatrist twice, honestly, because my insomnia has returned. Finally, I had a sleep study done yesterday at the hospital, and the result was, there was nothing, it was just acute stress," Ashanty explained.

The heaviest burden on her mind is thinking about the fate of her employees and hearing the disappointment of loyal Lumier customers. The pressure from her surroundings and campus also adds to her stress level.

"Not to mention hearing things like, 'Wow, your cake is so delicious. Are you really closing down?' Those are the words that stress me out. On top of that, I also have this issue, and then there's, 'When are you going to present your research, Bunda Ashanty?'" she complained.

In the midst of all these trials, Ashanty is trying to rediscover her purpose in life. She realizes that at the age of nearly 42, what she seeks is not material wealth, but how to be beneficial to many people.

"But what is my purpose? At my age, I am almost 42 years old, I want to be able to benefit others," she said.

She hopes that the knowledge she gains from her upcoming PhD education can be useful for the wider community. For Ashanty, living a healthy life and being surrounded by a complete family has become the greatest blessing.

"I am also taking PSDM, so I can use my knowledge to benefit many people. I don't want anything else anymore," she concluded firmly.
