Bring Back 2000s Music, 10 Portraits of Restu Putra Charly van Houten Release Mini Album - Admit Not Involving His Father During the Process

Kapanlagi.com - Restu Gibran is following in his father's footsteps, Charly van Houten, by venturing into the music world as a singer. Restu has just released an EP or mini album titled "5 Diri" under the label Trinity Optima.

There are five songs in the EP "5 Diri". Restu admits that his father, Charly van Houten, was not involved at all in the production process of the EP "5 Diri".

"For these five songs, it's all from me. I told my dad 'this is my own album','" said Restu when visiting the KLY office in Central Jakarta on Monday (20/5/2024).

But in his previous singles, the man born in 2005 admitted involving his father. Especially in the song "Sarangheo".

"In the previous singles, my father still helped. But this one, I really made it myself," he said.

Although not involving his father in the EP "5 Diri", Restu received full support from his beloved father. In fact, according to Restu, his father always asked him to always focus on what he was doing.

"It's more like guidance, because every time I come back to Bandung, I talk to my father," he said.

"I am also confused when asked for advice, because I talk a lot. My father always says 'you focus, don't rely on your surroundings'. Just focus," he concluded.

Restu explains that the songs in the EP "5 Diri" are packaged in the style of 2000s music. At that time, the color of Malay pop music dominated the Indonesian music industry.

"At that time, I was just playing around, it's fun if the current era releases the 2000s era. It's cool that I bring out the 2000s vibe, even the music video concept is old-fashioned," he said.

Therefore, the five songs in the EP "5 Diri" are made to resemble the music of the 2000s as closely as possible.

"I made it as close as possible to the 2000s era. Especially since my father was a member of a pop band in the 2000s. In the end, I leaned more towards Malay pop, and the lyrics are similar," he concluded.
