Brother Reveals Diding Boneng Was Hospitalized Due to Stroke

Kapanlagi.com - Senior actor Diding Boneng passed away on Monday morning. His brother, Zainal Arifin, outlined his brother's health history, which was initially suspected to be a stomach ulcer but was ultimately diagnosed as a stroke before his passing.

"Stomach ulcer, yes, they said it was a stomach ulcer. But after being examined by the doctor, there was no stomach ulcer, he had asthma and hypertension, stroke," said Zainal Arifin when met at the funeral home in the Matraman area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (3/8/2026).

Diding Boneng, known as one of the actors from Warkop DKI, passed away at the age of 76. In addition to stroke, he also had a history of asthma since youth and hypertension as conveyed by the family.

1. Stomach Complaints Until Stroke Diagnosis

The family initially suspected that Diding Boneng's complaints were due to stomach issues. However, after being taken to the doctor, the examination results indicated a blockage and pointed towards a stroke diagnosis.

This medical finding revealed other comorbidities, namely asthma and hypertension. According to the family, asthma had been accompanying Diding since a young age, while hypertension was identified during the examination.

With these results, health management was shifted to special stroke care. This decision became the first step in the series of intensive care that the deceased underwent.

2. Hospital Care and Condition Development

Upon arrival at Tarakan Hospital, Diding Boneng was placed in a special stroke patient unit for intensive treatment.

"That's why when he was in Tarakan, he was placed in the stroke unit, because it was indeed a stroke. And after a week in the hospital, he was moved to care, no longer in the stroke unit," he explained.

Zainal explained that Diding's condition showed some improvement during the treatment period. After being assessed as stable, the doctor allowed the recovery process to continue at home.

3. Experiencing Speech Disorders

Although allowed to go home, the effects of the stroke are still felt in speech ability. According to family statements, the tongue has become stiff, causing verbal communication to be disrupted.

"Can't speak anymore, the tongue is stiff because the stroke has affected it," said Zainal.

The family mentioned that the deceased had faced complications from illness before passing away. The body is planned to be buried at TPU Menteng Pulo, South Jakarta, after Asr on the same day.
