Celine Evangelista Really Wants to Wear a Hijab After Converting to Islam, But Is Hindered by Work

Kapanlagi.com - Pipik Dian Irawati, who is more commonly known as Umi Pipik, confirmed that the artist Celine Evangelista has now converted to Islam. Currently, the 32-year-old woman is studying the Islamic faith.

"She (Celine) has converted to Islam," said Umi Pipik when met in the Jalan Jendral Gatot Subroto area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (25/8).

The woman whose full name is Celine Evangelista Monica Maureen Ricci is said by Umi Pipik to really want to wear a hijab in her daily activities. However, due to many work contracts, she cannot realize that desire at the moment.

"I really want to wear a hijab. As much as possible, I attend studies where I can wear a hijab," Umi Pipik quoted Celine as saying during their conversation.

"But for now, she really can't because there are many jobs, many contracts that need to be completed. But her enthusiasm for learning is extraordinary," Umi Pipik continued.

Regarding when and where the woman born in Rome, Italy, became a convert, Umi Pipik admitted that she did not ask about it. But what is certain is that Celine Evangelista is very earnest in learning about Islam.

"I don't know about the news of her converting in Jakarta. As for who converted her, I never asked," said Umi Pipik.

"But during our conversations, she asked me, 'Is it okay if I learn to pray while reading it?'. I said it's fine, even if she holds it. Because her intention is to learn," Umi Pipik added.

2. Celine Also Prayed at the Mosque Several Times

In fact, Celine has also visited the mosque several times to perform prayers. However, no one knew of her presence because at that time Celine was wearing a niqab.

"She only mentioned that sometimes she could go to the mosque alone for three days, but wearing a niqab, so that people wouldn't see her. Because she was afraid of being embarrassed, like, why is she still holding this (note), who is that? So sometimes for those three days, she was really at the mosque," she concluded.
