Chat Ruben Onsu Viral, Minola Sebayang Denies Intent to Leak

The legal counsel of Ruben Onsu, Minola Sebayang, provided clarification after a snippet of a private conversation that appeared in a video became a topic of discussion on social media. He denied allegations that he intentionally leaked the contents of his client's chat and emphasized the context of showing the phone screen at that time.

"But it is said that the evidence presented is intended to prove the date of communication on the other number, that is correct. If it is said that I am not hiding or concealing the contents of that chat, that is also correct," said Minola Sebayang when met in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (3/8/2026).

This statement was made to emphasize that the phone screen display was intended as proof of the communication date. According to him, this is to confirm that Ruben Onsu is still using the same phone number and has never changed it.

Minola Sebayang stated that the display of the phone screen in the video aimed to show the date of communication. He emphasized that the context is technical proof, not presenting the content of private conversations.

He explained that this evidence is necessary to strengthen the information that there was no change of phone number on Ruben Onsu's side. According to him, the evidence of the communication date is the most direct way to confirm that aspect.

On the same occasion, Minola confirmed that at that moment he did not hide the chat display on the screen. His main purpose, he said, remained to prove the date of communication and to affirm that the number used by Ruben had not changed.

2. Response to Phone Number Change Issue

Minola stated that he presented the evidence immediately when questions about the possibility of Ruben changing his phone number arose from the media crew. He emphasized that there was no intention to harm any party through the explanation provided.

"Because as soon as the evidence was sent to my phone, I used it right away when friends asked about 'Is it true that Ruben has moved or changed his number?', I immediately showed it. Likewise, at Densu, I had no intention of 'Oh this is harmful', none," he revealed.

He added that the decision to show the evidence was taken spontaneously in response to incoming questions. Minola stressed that the context remains the same, namely to ensure the public knows that Ruben Onsu's phone number is still the same and has not changed.

3. Screenshot Issues and Dissemination Warnings

Minola suspects that someone deliberately took a screenshot from the video recording and enlarged parts of the conversation. According to him, this action is aimed at shaping opinions and potentially tarnishing Ruben Onsu's reputation.

"And I believe that the true viewers, who do not want any agenda, would not even think of capturing and zooming in on it. This definitely has a suspected element of intention. And then they say that I spilled the information, but I did not spill anything," Minola emphasized.

He also reminded that the party spreading the snippets of the conversation is not him. Minola believes the public needs to understand that the material in the video is in the context of proving the date of communication.

"Be careful, it means transmitting and distributing something that should not be done even though it was taken from the podcast, but the context is to prove the date of communication that there was no change of number," he concluded.
