Comedian McDanny Insults Habib Rizieq, Receives Criticism and Ends Up Apologizing Profusely

He made these statements with the accompaniment of disc jockey (DJ) music and uploaded them on one of the Info Betawi Youtube accounts on October 17th.

"F**k Habib Rizieq," he added. McDanny then realized that his words could violate the law. He immediately changed the topic of conversation.

"If there are police, I'm in trouble," he said after that. The video immediately went viral and attracted public attention. Not only was he criticized, McDanny also received condemnation from various parties. Not only being insulted, he also became a trending topic on Twitter. The hashtag #TangkapMcDanny has been widely discussed since the video went viral. 

1. Criticism and Will Be Reported to the Police

After a video clip of McDanny's statement went viral on social media and reached Habib Rizieq and his lawyer, Sugito Atmo Prawiro, they spoke out about the possibility of reporting the comedian to the police regarding his statement that was deemed insulting to Habib Rizieq.

They did not rule out the possibility of imprisoning McDanny if directed by Habib Rizieq. HRS supporters also criticized the comedian and forced McDanny to apologize. Not to mention, artist Arie Untung, who also criticized the actor who once starred in the movie KOALA KUMAL.

2. Apologize and Regret

Seemingly aware of his statement that drew criticism from various parties, McDanny finally appeared in a video apology that he uploaded on his personal Instagram account @mcd4nny. He conveyed the apology to all Muslims, especially supporters of Habib Rizieq. The video was then reposted by Arie Untung on his Instagram account, @ariekuntung.

Wearing a plain black shirt, McDanny opened his apology with a greeting. With a trembling voice, McDanny admitted that he had lost control and was too euphoric on stage when uttering derogatory remarks about Habib Rizieq. Here is McDanny's complete statement in the video:
