Debut of Atta Halilintar's 'ASHIAP MAN' Directorial Postponed, Here's the Producer's Explanation

Kapanlagi.com - Thursday (10/2/2022) was supposed to be the release date of the film ASHIAP MAN, which marks Atta Halilintar's directorial debut, in cinemas across Indonesia. However, suddenly, Chand Parwez, the producer, announced that the release is postponed.

The postponement is related to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant. Several areas, including DKI Jakarta, have implemented Level 3 PPKM.

"Yes, this film's release is postponed. We think it's better to delay it rather than forcing it. We also realize that the current situation prioritizes safety and health," said Parwez when contacted by KapanLagi.com on Wednesday (9/2/2022).

1. Film for Children

Chand Parwez stated that the film ASHIAP MAN is made for family consumption. Considering that children under 12 years old, who are the target audience, cannot watch it unless they have received the first dose of the vaccine, it also affects the postponement.

"We know that this film is for families, for all ages, for children. With Level 3 PPKM in Jabodetabek, Bandung Raya, Yogyakarta, and Bali, children under 12 years old are not allowed to watch it unless they have received the first dose of the vaccine, which is still very limited in quantity. I think that is not conducive. It's troublesome if children cannot watch it," said Parwez.

2. Can Rent a Studio

Although postponed for a nationwide official release, the production house provides the film for limited screenings. Audiences can rent a studio and watch together.

"Anticipation for those who really want to watch, can now watch together by renting a studio. Cinemas have been able to do this since yesterday," said the owner of Starvision production house.

3. Reveal Sadness

Furthermore, Chand Parwez expressed sadness over the delay of the film ASHIAP MAN. However, he cannot do much for the safety of many people.

"It's a pity for us, we are very sad. We have postponed it several times. Previously, filming was affected by PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions), we had to stop even though we had built a set in the city center, it had to be dismantled. After we could resume filming, we built the set again. Once we finished filming with maximum effort, we faced the second wave of PPKM (Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities). Now we are facing the third wave," said Parwez.

4. Obsessed with Becoming a Hero

ASHIAP MAN tells the story of Zulkarnaen, a young man who has been obsessed with becoming a hero since childhood. Meeting a girl named Kiara makes Zul more determined to fulfill his dreams.

This film stars Atta Halilintar as Zulkarnaen alias Ashiap Man. There is also Aurel Hermansyah, Nasya Marcella, Samuel Rizal, and Rizky Billar.
