Diding Boneng Has Asthma After Filming a Horror Movie

1. Diding Boneng Exposed to Smoke Gun

Diding explained that during the film production process, he was continuously exposed to smoke from the smoke gun. The working environment, dominated by night scenes, worsened his condition. Diding felt that the exposure to chemical smoke was maximally inhaled into his body for days.

"I actually got sick because of the film, really. It's a horror film, 80 percent of the scenes are at night. Almost every scene uses smoke, using the smoke gun. The smoke gun was crazy, four smoke guns were really used," said Diding Boneng.

2. Diding Boneng Had to be Treated in the Hospital

The long shooting duration caused the smoke exposure to become cumulative. Diding recounted that he was rushed to the hospital while still on the shooting location in Yogyakarta. However, due to professional commitment, he chose to return to the location after obtaining permission from the hospital's medical team at that time.

"So, every day, you could say almost every night I was shooting, I was mingling with that smoke. Well, that's what I think I inhaled because I shot for 40 days, day and night. For those 40 days, I inhaled that smoke gun. Eventually, I got sick there, I spent three days in the hospital in Jogja," he said.

3. Diding Doesn't Blame the Production Team

Although aware that the work environment made him sick, Diding is reluctant to blame the production house unilaterally. Instead, he shows a wise attitude by considering this incident as a job risk that he must accept. For him, maintaining a good relationship with the producer remains a top priority.

"Three days later I was allowed to go home and I was allowed to shoot again. I returned to the shooting location until the film was finished. Just two weeks in Jakarta I got sick until today. I just want to let you know, I don’t know, sorry Mr. Producer, it’s not the film's fault, it’s my fault," explained Diding.
