Doesn't Want to Take Medication Despite Having Had a Stroke Twice, Tio Pakusadewo Relies on Moringa Leaves and Honey

Senior actor Tio Pakusadewo is known as one of the most dedicated actors in every role he takes. But who would have thought, behind his enthusiasm in the acting world, this 61-year-old man has actually experienced two strokes. Interestingly, Tio admits to choosing not to consume medical medications, even though doctors have advised him to do so.

"Thank God I've had two strokes, but the doctor advised me to buy hypertension medication, but for my whole life, I don't want to, so I don't take any (medication) every day, just honey and moringa leaves and I try to keep moving every day, especially swimming," he said when met on Captain Tendean Street, Mampang, South Jakarta, Tuesday (4/8/2025).

Tio revealed that he experienced his first stroke attack in 2020. Five years have passed, and he remains steadfast in his decision to avoid consuming hypertension medication and not undergoing regular medical check-ups."No, I don't take medication," he said briefly but firmly when asked about the continuation of medication consumption.

However, this father of three does not deny that his body now has several restrictions he must be wary of. One of them is an empty stomach condition that can trigger undesirable things, especially high blood pressure.

"His body can't, the stomach can't be empty, if the stomach is empty it feels like a disaster is coming," said Tio.

He also added that currently he is better at controlling his emotions and avoiding situations that could trigger stress, although in the field it is often unavoidable. His experience of having a stroke changed the way he handles pressure.

"But after experiencing the stroke yesterday, I inevitably have to reduce my emotions," he said.

Although the lifestyle he leads seems to contradict general medical advice, Tio remains confident in his choices. He even does not follow certain dietary restrictions and refers to himself as 'stubborn'.

"Not for me. If I were to follow what the doctor recommends and so on, there would be a lot to restrict, but I don't, I'm just stubborn," he said, while chuckling softly.
