Eko Patrio Accused of Hiding Abroad: Not Even, I'm Renting a House

However, he immediately denied the news with a firm response. Eko emphasized that his current condition does not allow him to travel abroad.

"Not even hiding abroad. I'm currently renting a house on the outskirts of Jakarta. How could I go abroad? That's one," said Eko Patrio when met at Polda Metro Jaya, Friday (12/9/2025).

"For now, I am still renting a place on the outskirts of Jakarta. That's how it is, I haven't thought about a house yet; hopefully, I will have the fortune to fix my house," he continued.

Eko then explained the real reason why he only dared to appear in public now. It is not because he is afraid, but because of his heart's calling and sense of responsibility toward Rian, the man who saved his cat.

"So, why am I daring to show up? Because I see Rian, my responsibility. There is someone who has been good, suddenly I just let go like that," he said.

He admitted to receiving full support from his wife, Viona Rosalina, to fight for Rian's freedom.

"I get support from Viona, but honestly, I came to the police today because of Rian, nothing else, because I see Rian has good intentions in taking care of my cat," said Eko.

Thanks to Eko's request, that night Rian was released and picked up by his family. Eko feels a moral responsibility for Rian's goodness in saving his pet.

"And tonight Rian was picked up by his family, his older sibling and father. So I came here, this is the first time I’ve left the house and can be free now because of Rian, simply because Rian has saved my cat," said Eko.

Although trying to be strong, Eko recalls how the house was the fruit of his hard work over the decades. Seeing the result of his efforts disappear overnight certainly leaves a deep wound.

"Honestly, this is indeed the result of my hard work for decades, my head became my feet, my feet became my head to provide the best for my family, which is the house that I have built from my hard work. The career I have achieved all this time vanished in an instant that night, yes it’s sad," he said.

Eko Patrio's house, in Kuningan, Jakarta, became the target of a mob on Saturday night (30/8/2025). Hundreds of people came repeatedly until they finally entered the house and emptied its contents.

Heri, a security officer of the complex, explained that since 21:00 WIB, the mob had already been seen gathering around the location. The situation became increasingly difficult to control because the number of people coming was far greater than the security personnel on duty.

"So last night the mob had started gathering from 21:00 WIB. By 21:00 they had already started to arrive, maybe around 22:00 or later, the mob began to push into the house because the defense from the military and our security was also limited. But because the mob was larger, yes, hundreds more, that was the first wave. Yes, the mob pushed into Mr. Eko's residence," said Heri when met on Sunday (31/8/2025).
