Ello Becomes Dewa 19's Vocalist Featuring Ahmad Dhani: Better Sing Than Be Unemployed

Kapanlagi.com - Singer Marcello Tahitoe, also known as Ello, has been the talk of the town among netizens because he was chosen as Dewa 19's vocalist. Ello himself is not a permanent member of Dewa 19, but only a featured vocalist.

This is the same as other singers who have become Dewa 19's featured vocalists before, such as Ari Lasso, Virzha, Once, and Judika.

Nevertheless, the 39-year-old singer still feels proud and grateful to be part of the Dewa 19 band. What's even more impressive is that Ello's presence with Dewa 19 immediately released a new song titled "Juliette".

This is an opportunity that we cannot miss, seeing Dewa 19, who has not released a new single in 12 years, now releasing one. I am grateful for this rare opportunity to sing Mas Dhani and Dewa 19's song," said Ello at Holywings Kemang Jakarta Selatan, Wednesday (30/3/2022).

1. Welcomed Well

The presence of Ello with Dewa 19 is welcomed well by its personnel, Ahmad Dhani, Andra Ramadhan, Yuke Sampurna, and Agung. On the same occasion, Dewa 19's guitarist, Andra Ramadhan revealed that the presence of Ello with Dewa 19 could give a new color to their music.

"As for me personally, I accept all vocalists who will sing. Previously there was Virzha, I liked his character, Ello came in, I already knew Ello personally, I liked him," said Andra.

"In addition, he previously sang his pop song, but he has a grunge and alternative side, he is suitable to sing Dewa's songs with his distinctive style, it's fun to work with Ello," added Andra.

2. Already Know Each Other

Similarly, Yuke, Dewa 19's bassist, welcomed the presence of Ello as a featuring vocalist with Dewa 19. Moreover, Yuke and Ello have known each other for a long time. Even before Yuke became Dewa 19's bassist, he had seen Ello's performance when he was still singing in cafes.

"Well, during my time, Ello was already popular, I watched him in cafes and bars. Besides, we have been partners in crime for a long time, and it's surprising that Ello is suitable. I thought it was a bit jazzy, but it turns out to have a grunge side, it's great that we have a partner in crime in Dewa 19," said Yuke.

3. No Plan to Collaborate with Ello

Meanwhile, Ahmad Dhani said that Dewa 19 did not plan to collaborate with Ello to become a featured vocalist for their band. Coincidentally, when Dewa 19 held a virtual concert and there was a sponsor who came up with the idea for the band founded in 1984 to collaborate with another singer.

"We didn't plan to approach Ello. So when we held the Video Legend live streaming event, there were many sponsors who had ideas and wanted Dewa to collaborate with this, this, and this. Because I was tired of thinking about collaborations, especially since the sponsor's team was made up of young people, I let the young people choose who to collaborate with," said Ahmad Dhani.

4. Baladewa's Support

From the list of selected singers, Ello's name eventually emerged. From there, Dewa 19 officially collaborated with Ello as a featured vocalist for Dewa 19. Ahmad Dhani said that Ello's presence was warmly welcomed by his fans, who are commonly referred to as Baladewa.

"When we mentioned Ello's name, the fans' response was quite enthusiastic. So, it's better to have a young widow who is available than to let her be idle. I don't need to use difficult intuition, just look at the comments on Instagram and YouTube. This is just part of the service to the fans," concluded Ahmad Dhani.

5. New Single Release

Together with Ello, Dewa 19 has released their latest single titled Juliette. This is Dewa 19's first single in approximately 12 years after not presenting any new works.

Under the label of Republik Cinta Management, the song "Juliette" will be officially released on April 1, 2022, on all music streaming services through an exclusive collaboration with Believe Artist Service. Then on the same day, the music video for "Juliette" will also be released through the YouTube Video Legend channel.
