Kapanlagi.com - The year 2025 is set to be a challenging year for PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTEK). However, EMTEK's Managing Director, Sutanto Hartono, expressed high optimism with the company's well-prepared vision and mission. Sutanto revealed his enthusiasm for achieving significant targets this year.

"We feel very enthusiastic at the beginning of this year, full of hope and spirit, and we have set ambitious targets that we want to achieve as our main accomplishments this year," Sutanto said at the EMTEK Connect Vol. 3 event in Jakarta on Thursday (6/2/2025).

Amid the transition of President Prabowo Subianto's government, Sutanto emphasized the important role of media, particularly television, in supporting democracy. He stated that television remains the main platform for the public to obtain information, especially about the government and political debates.

"Television is the main platform for information, especially when the people want to know about government developments and the results of political debates," he explained.

Although the digital era continues to evolve, Sutanto highlighted that television still dominates. Following the transition from analog to digital broadcasting through the Analog Switch Off (ASO) program, television now reaches over 221 million people in 274 cities and regencies. Sutanto also revealed that the average TV viewing time for Indonesians increased to 4.84 hours per day in 2024.

"Currently, about 90 percent of Indonesians still use TV, which is much higher than internet devices or smartphones," he stated.

1. Television Still a Choice

Meanwhile, Harsiwi Achmad, Programming Director of EMTEK Media, also added that the younger generation, including Gen Z and millennials, still consider television as their main entertainment choice. According to a recent study, two out of three Gen Z and millennials in Indonesia watch television for more than three hours every day, and this number continues to rise.

"Studies show that Gen Z and millennials are still watching TV a lot. Year over year, if we compare for example 2023 versus 2024, there is an increase," said Harsiwi.

The success of the soap opera Magic Five is one proof that television content is still relevant. This series not only attracts attention on television but also succeeds on social media with hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. This popularity also affects its cast, who now have millions of followers on social media.

"Members of Magic Five before they starred in Magic Five had followers in the hundreds of thousands. Now it's in the millions. If we total it, it could be 65 million," explained Harsiwi.

2. Television Can Adapt

In addition to Magic Five, television channels such as Mentari TV and Moji TV have also proven to be relevant among young people. Mentari TV has succeeded with children's programs, while Moji TV has become a new force in the sports world, particularly volleyball, which is now the second most popular sport after football in Indonesia.

"With the development of volleyball, Moji has become very strong, especially in various regions of Indonesia," concluded Harsiwi.

This phenomenon shows that television is not only capable of adapting to the digital era but also remains a relevant platform for all generations. With a continuously growing audience, EMTEK is optimistic about maintaining its position as an industry leader with an audience share reaching 36.1 percent by 2024.
