Fahmi Bachmid Reveals Baim Wong Only Seeks Legal Certainty, Not Personal Revenge

The divorce trial of Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeve continues to the appeal stage. After Paula's side first filed an appeal against the divorce decision read on April 16, 2025, Baim Wong's side took similar steps.

Fahmi Bachmid, as Baim's attorney, emphasized that his client's decision to file an appeal is not driven by anger or personal revenge. He stated that the action is purely a legal effort as regulated by law.

"Yes, if someone files a legal effort, that is a right that we must respect, and indeed that is the place for it," said Fahmi when met in the Mampang area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/4/2025).

Fahmi also emphasized that the appeal is not made because his side feels emotionally harmed. Rather, it is to ensure that the entire legal process is fair and in accordance with the facts revealed in court.

"Because that right must also be exercised as mandated by law," he continued.

He also underscored that the decision of the Panel of Judges stating Paula as the disobedient wife is an important basis that deserves to be re-examined at the appellate level. Moreover, in that process various pieces of evidence and witnesses from both parties have been presented.

"That is the judge's consideration from the facts of the trial, from all the evidence concluded, considered that it is proven that the respondent is the disobedient wife," said Fahmi.

Nevertheless, Fahmi stated that his side does not intend to personally attack the opposing party. The main focus remains on legal clarity, not an opinion war.

"I do not respond to matters that are unrelated to the decision issue," he asserted when asked about the rumor of a leaked voice recording.

Fahmi stated that until there is a legally binding decision from the high court, the decision from April 16 remains the only valid reference. In that decision, several of Paula's demands were rejected due to her status as a nusus wife.

"The only thing we can be accountable for in terms of its truth is the decision dated April 16," concluded Fahmi.
