"The decision to reduce the sentence by 7 months for time served means that Kak Catherine has already served 6 months and 13 days, so she will be able to be released from prison soon. We accept it because Kak Catherine herself accepts the decision," said Verna Wahono after the hearing.

1. Will Be Released in Early February

If there are no obstacles, Catherine Wilson will be released in early February. But before that, her legal counsel will also make some efforts to ensure that she can be released earlier.

"Because she should be able to come home in early February. But we want to consult with the prison authorities because there are several measures that can be taken, such as taking leave before release. Because she has already served 6 months. We can propose something like that," he explained.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor demanded 8 months of rehabilitation for Catherine Wilson. However, the panel of judges decided on 7 months of imprisonment for Catherine Wilson. Verna Wahono stated that this decision is quite fair and she will not file an appeal.

"It's heavier than the demand, right? Because the Prosecutor himself demanded 8 months minus the detention period. But because the rehabilitation was not granted but the detention period was reduced, it's fair enough for us. If the panel of judges indeed decided that Kak Catherine is not categorized as an addict who needs rehabilitation, then I guess we just have to accept it," she concluded.
