Gaga Muhammad Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison, Erika Carlina: Honestly, Four Years is Still Not Enough

Kapanlagi.com - The defendant Gaga Muhammad attended a continuation trial of a traffic accident case at the East Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (4/1/2022). The trial was scheduled to hear the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

In the trial, the JPU demanded a four-year-six-month prison sentence and a fine of Rp10 million for the 21-year-old man. Laura Anna's late friend, Erika Erika Carlina, who was also present at Gaga Muhammad's trial, expressed dissatisfaction with the JPU's demands.

"Honestly, four years is still not enough. The amount of money that has to be paid, 10 million, is not proportional in my opinion," said Erika Carlina at the East Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (4/1/2022).

1. Balanced Punishment

Erika Carlina said that the punishment for Gaga Muhammad should be balanced. Moreover, due to the traffic accident experienced by Gaga Muhammad, his former girlfriend, Laura Anna, became paralyzed.

"Based on what Laura has been feeling these past few days and seeing that Gaga's sentence of four years is not fair," she said.

2. Punished as Heavily as Possible

Although Erika Carlina is not very knowledgeable about the law, she at least hopes that Gaga Muhammad is punished as heavily as possible.

"I don't know, I'm not very familiar with the law. Maybe 10 years, for me," said Erika Carlina.

3. No Goodwill

"Laura really doesn't want Gaga to be released or forgiven fairly, because Gaga and his family have shown no goodwill, no family resolution," concluded Erika.

4. Make Laura Paralyzed

In his demand, the prosecutor also read several aggravating factors against Gaga Muhammad in the traffic accident case. One of the aggravating factors against Gaga Muhammad in this case is causing Laura Anna to experience paralysis.

"The actions of the defendant that caused paralysis to the victim Laura Anna Edelenyi had an impact on the loss of productivity of the victim Laura Anna Edelenyi as a celebrity. The defendant's actions have caused psychological impact and trauma to the victim Laura Anna Edelenyi, and the recovery of Laura Anna Edelenyi's serious injuries or paralysis cannot be determined," said the prosecutor during the trial on Tuesday (4/1/2022).

"The defendant was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol and there was no reconciliation between the defendant and the victim Laura Anna Edelenyi, as well as no financial assistance or medical aid from the defendant to the victim Laura Anna Edelenyi," added the prosecutor.

5. Reduce Gaga's Sentence

Furthermore, in addition to reading several points that aggravate Gaga Muhammad's sentence, the prosecutor also read out things that mitigate the punishment of the 21-year-old man.

"Things that mitigate the defendant's actions include behaving politely during the trial, the defendant acknowledging his mistakes and regretting his actions, the defendant has never been punished for a crime before. The defendant is still young and it is hoped that he can improve his behavior in the future," said the prosecutor.
