Gaga Muhammad Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison, Here's Denny Sumargo's Response

"Yes, as someone who might know, I honestly feel sorry for both parties," said Denny Sumargo when met in Tendean, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night, January 19th.

"No one actually benefits from this, but if someone has to take responsibility, then there must be someone responsible," he continued.

Nevertheless, Denny Sumargo still prays for the best for Gaga Muhammad and the late Laura Anna. He also emphasizes that he does not take sides even though everyone has their own views on the case.

"Whatever happens in the future, I will definitely pray for the best, I fully support the condition where people want to recover, including for Laura's family and Gaga's family. I cannot stand on one side only because my view on this matter is different," he said.

In addition, according to Denny, every human being makes mistakes and must realize that those mistakes need to be corrected. Regarding the issue of Gaga and the late Laura, which is still being discussed, Denny Sumargo hopes that netizens will slowly give space for Awkarin's former lover.

"This is their potential future, hopefully from this decision, Laura's family can recover from all their disappointments. They can continue living, and Gaga's family can also gracefully continue their lives. Maybe from the netizens' side, give them space to fix what needs to be fixed from both sides," he said.

The verdict hearing of the defendant Gaung Sabda Alam Muhammad or better known as Gaga Muhammad for a traffic accident case was held at the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (19/1/2022).

In the verdict hearing, the panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court officially sentenced Gaga Muhammad to four years and six months in prison.

This 21-year-old influencer was proven guilty in a traffic accident case that caused his former girlfriend at the time, Laura Anna to become paralyzed. This punishment is the same as the demand of the Public Prosecutor who demanded four years and six months in prison for Gaga.

"Declare that the defendant is proven legally and convincingly to have driven a motor vehicle due to his negligence, causing the victim to suffer serious injuries. Imposing a prison sentence of 4 years and 6 months, a fine of Rp. 10 million, and if not paid, a substitute of 2 months imprisonment," said the judge in the trial, Wednesday (19/1/2022).

Then, the judges conveyed that there are several things that make Gaga Muhammad's punishment heavier. They stated that Gaga Muhammad did not show any guilt.

"What makes the defendant's case heavier in the trial is that he expressed his regret and guilt, but the judges did not see consistency in those statements," said the judge.
