Gunawan Sudrajat Reveals Being Carried Away by Emotions During the Filming of the Movie GENERASI 90AN: MELANKOLIA

Kapanlagi.com - Indonesian movies are increasingly bringing new colors to the entertainment industry. This time there will be a new movie titled GENERASI 90AN: MELANKOLIA directed by Irfan Ramli.

This film is inspired by the book written by Marchella FP, which was inspired by three popular songs in the 90s, namely, Begitu Indah by Padi, Kirana popularized by Dewa 19, and one of Sheila On 7's songs titled Sephia.

Later, this film will tell the story of Abby, played by Ari Irham, who experiences sadness due to the loss of his brother who died in a plane crash. The famous artists starring in this film are Gunawan Sudrajat, Aghniny Haque, Ari Irham, Taskya Namya, and Jennifer Coppen.

1. Father Character

Aside from Ari Irham, the other cast members also admit that this film is a challenge for them because they have new roles. Each cast introduces the character they will portray in this film.

"I play as Abby and Indah's father. I am a retired lecturer. I retired early and wanted to focus on my family. After retiring, I lost a beloved child. I think this is how life should be lived. I am a logical thinker, we live created by God and go to meet God. Yes, logically I don't want my family members to be sad. Yes, losing a loved one is heavy. I remember when my mother passed away, I felt lost in life. I was overwhelmed with sadness for 2 months before moving on. That's why I applied for this film," said Gunawan when encountered in the TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (10/3).

2. Impressions During Filming

During the filming process, there are always impressions that cannot be forgotten by the actors. Gunawan and Irfan Ramli reveal their most special impressions during filming.

"There was a scene where I got carried away with emotions during a dialogue with my mother. I tried to calm myself down and not follow the emotions. I even shed tears because I got carried away with the emotions of losing my mother. During filming, it was difficult for me to hold back tears as I kept thinking about my deceased mother. Secondly, I had a monologue with Abby while daydreaming about Indah. I described Indah as a strong woman, and that strength runs in my blood as a strong person. At that moment, I got carried away and had to hold back tears," said Gunawan.

The movie GENERASI 90AN: MELANKOLIA will be released on April 9, 2020.
