The sad news of Hotma Sitompul's passing leaves profound sorrow for the family, especially for his beloved son, Ditho Hasian Sitompul. He conveyed that his father passed away on the same day as his wife Caroline's birthday.

"Actually, my birthday is on April 4, our anniversary is on April 11, and her (his wife's) birthday is on the 16th, but Dad chose to pass away on Loli's birthday," said Ditho after Hotma Sitompul's funeral at San Diego Hills Memorial Park, Karawang, Saturday (19/4/2025). Here are the details.

For Ditho, the departure of his father on that special day was not a coincidence. He saw it as a moment full of meaning, as if it showed the deep emotional closeness between his father and the entire family.

The departure of Hotma not only left sorrow but also a legacy of memories and strong life values. Ditho said that his father was a figure who was firm yet full of tenderness.

"Earlier, I mentioned there were four things. One of them, we discussed leadership. Dad's leadership was actually firm, but gentle," he said.

He also reminisced about his childhood with his father, who never once raised his voice or acted harshly. Even the advice given was always conveyed with love.

"None of us as children were ever scolded, like yelled at or treated harshly. Usually, in Batak culture, when children misbehave, they get reprimanded physically. But Dad never did that even a little bit," he reminisced.

According to Ditho, his father's way of educating them was what made all his children obedient and respectful without fear.

"So because he taught us firmly yet gently, we also obeyed. For us, we are very grateful to have a father like Mr. Hotma," Ditho continued.

He added that the passing of his father will always be a part of their family's life history.
