After the funeral of the late Hotma Sitompul at San Diego Hills Memorial Park, Karawang, on Saturday (19/4/2025), the family conveyed last messages that are very meaningful to them. One of the last messages conveyed by Hotma was an apology to all parties who may have been hurt by him.
Philipus Sitepu, the family spokesperson, revealed that the late Hotma expressed this apology sincerely before his departure.
"His last message was that he apologized to everyone, anyone or certain parties he may have hurt. That was his last message," said Philipus.
In addition, Hotma also expressed his gratitude to the state for awarding him the highest honor for his services in defending the community through the legal institution he founded, LBH Mawar Saron.
"We thank the state for awarding Mr. Hotma the highest honor," continued Philipus.
Hotma Sitompul, known as an advocate who is very concerned about the rights of the poor and oppressed, founded LBH Mawar Saron in 2002, which has helped thousands of people in need of legal assistance for free. For his dedication, Hotma received the Satya Lencana Kebaktian Sosial in 2013 from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
"Hotma Sitompul is a student of Anang Buyung Nasution, who received an award from the state," said Philipus reminiscing about his contributions
During the funeral ceremony, there were also tributes from various parties, including 500 workers who were prepared to give their last respects to Hotma, as well as recognition from Hipakad (Association of Army Sons and Daughters).
"I think maybe the first lawyer or advocate is Mr. Adnan Buyung, and the second is Mr. Hotma Sitompul," added Philipus.
For the family, these last messages are a legacy that they will keep and continue. The departure of Hotma Sitompul not only leaves memories but also life values that will continue to live in the struggle of the family and LBH Mawar Saron.
