Caroline, the daughter-in-law of the late Hotma Sitompul, remembers her father-in-law as a very sweet and loving person. Caroline shared this after the funeral of Hotma Sitompul at San Diego Hills Memorial Park, Karawang, Saturday (19/4/2025).
"Yes, everyone thinks that Papa is very fierce, scary even, and at first, I was also afraid and thought he was a fierce person," said Caroline.
However, over time, that view changed. Caroline admitted that she came to know the true character of Hotma as a warm, caring father, far from the intimidating impression.
"But it turns out that when I got to know Dad, he is a very charismatic person, not strict. As I got to know him better, I said Dad is a very kind, very sweet figure," continued Caroline.
He also reminisced about the intimate moments they spent together, including when they lived in the same house, having breakfast together every morning, and the moments when Hotma cooked his son-in-law's favorite food.
"Dad is really nice like that. We often, because I lived there for a year with him. With Dito, we often had breakfast together, ate together. Even when I was pregnant, Dad really liked to cook petai eggs," he recalled.
Caroline also mentioned that their relationship became closer since 2021 when they moved back in together. According to her, there are many beautiful memories that are hard to forget.
"I have known Papa for a long time since we first met, I was the one who designed the house in Antasari, Papa's house there," she revealed.
For Caroline, Hotma is not just a father-in-law, but also a father figure who is full of attention and love. The experience of living together made her recognize the humane side of Hotma that is rarely seen in public.
"Yes, those moments are unforgettable for me. Until we finally moved back there to live with Papa," Caroline concluded.
