Ivan Gunawan now has a different perspective on living life and managing his wealth. This famous designer has begun to shift his priorities from merely collecting luxury items to engaging in social activities that have a broader impact on society.
One of his main focuses at the moment is the construction of 99 mosques in various regions of Indonesia. Igun admits that he now feels a much greater inner satisfaction, even becoming addicted, when he can share with others through charity.
"Well, you know, I actually feel that charity is addictive, and I can enjoy the pleasure of giving, so that's why I want to invite everyone in Indonesia to join in giving charity," said Ivan Gunawan when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, Friday (1/5/2026).
Regarding his past lifestyle that was closely associated with branded items, Igun feels he has reached a sufficient point. He no longer feels the need to force himself to own everything because for him, all the wealth in the world is merely temporary.
"Yes, life is like that; if you haven't experienced it, you want to. But if you have, then what's the point? So everything is just a trust, everything is just borrowed from Allah, so it's enough, what's important is that you've experienced it," he said.
Igun added that everyone has a scale of priorities that changes over time. For him, now is the right time to contribute more to matters of the hereafter rather than continuously chasing material wealth without end.
"If there is more rezeki, wanting to buy again is not wrong, but every life definitely has priorities, right now we are running our priorities," explained Igun.
Igun's desire to build many mosques is also based on a sense of responsibility towards the trust he has received. He is very careful in managing the funds that come in, especially when he collaborates with humanitarian foundations for the project.
"Because for me this is a form of my relationship with Allah, so it can't be taken lightly, especially using other people's money, that's a trust, so we have to be truly responsible," concluded Ivan Gunawan.
