Ivan Gunawan Builds a Three-Story Tahfidz House in Depok, Ensures All Facilities Are Free

Kapanlagi.com - Ivan Gunawan also contributed to the establishment of the Quran Tahfidz House in Sawangan, Depok, West Java. This tahfidz house is under the auspices of the Tahfidz Dzurrotul Quran Foundation.

The construction of this tahfidz house was funded through Ivan's brand and the assistance of donors. Ivan acted as a mediator to channel aid from benefactors to the foundation.

"So alhamdulillah through the Mandja Hijab brand, the profits we have made can build this in about 7 months," said Ivan Gunawan when met at the Quran Tahfidz House, Sawangan, Depok, West Java, Saturday (12/4/2025).

1. Ivan Gunawan Called to Build a Worthy Place for Santri

Previously, this foundation only occupied a rented building near Ivan's house. Since the owner wanted to use the land, the santri had to find a new place to study. The man who is affectionately called Igun then directly helped build a tahfidz house that now stands three stories on waqf land.

Igun felt called upon seeing the condition of the santri who needed a decent place. In addition, he also plans to add one more floor and establish a mosque in the empty area next to the main building.

2. The Purpose of the Hafidz House is Not Just Memorizing the Quran

"Insya Allah next month we will start building a musala. It can be a musala or a mosque. Because it is 300 m2 in size and there is currently no mosque in this area. So, insya Allah the mosque is not just for the children, but for the surrounding community," he explained.

This tahfidz house is not only focused on memorizing the Quran but also on additional education. Ivan wants the santri to have skills that will be useful in the future.

"We are preparing here, insya Allah there will be Arabic lessons. We currently have English lessons, and there will also be computer and IT introductions, which are also important, and later there will also be talent distribution," he said.

3. Ensure Free Facilities Are Covered by Donors

The 43-year-old man has collaborated with a private university to support the further education of the students. He hopes that graduates of the tahfidz house can continue to high school and receive scholarships.

"So they have talents that lead somewhere, so I hope they graduate to high school and also immediately receive scholarships from Mercubuana University," he said.

4. Ensure Free Facilities Are Covered by Donors

All living and educational expenses for the students are covered by the foundation and donors. The children only go home once a year.

"Free, free here. So they only go home once a year, unless there is an urgent situation," concluded Igun.

5. Expressing Gratitude

Ivan Gunawan also expressed his gratitude to the loyal customers of Mandjha Hijab, who have indirectly contributed to the construction of this tahfidz house.

"Thank you to the women of Mandjha who have been shopping at Mandjha, where a portion of the profits from every product purchase has become donations for the children of the pesantren," said Ivan.

On this occasion, Mandjha Hijab also provided a set of computers and laptops to support the learning activities of the students. Ivan hopes this support can open wider access for children to learn technology from an early age.
