Jordi Onsu Speaks Up Responding to the 'Geprek Bensu' Name Dispute Case that Causes a Stir

Of course, this incident is a very important lesson for Jordi as the CEO of Onsu Pangan Perkasa. Despite the problems, Jordi claims to remain enthusiastic about developing the business he started in 2017.

"We remain positive in facing this case by continuing to develop the business. Because there are many people who rely on Geprek Bensu for their livelihood," said Jordi when met in Jakarta, Tuesday (23/6).

1. The Problem Has Been There for 3 Years

According to him, the problem that has arisen recently has actually been happening for 3 years. The reason is that Jordi's employees often receive complaints about the quality of Geprek Bensu products, while the incidents did not occur at the Geprek Bensu outlet.

"Geprek Bensu management has strict SOPs regarding the products sold. Taste, cleanliness, and the best service are important to us. We are aware that customer satisfaction is the main priority for Geprek Bensu," he explained.

Jordi is also accused of stealing a recipe from another culinary brand. In response to this, Jordi has his own defense.

"In the millennial era, finding recipes is not difficult. In fact, people can find thousands of Geprek Bensu recipes on the internet. Moreover, our recipe is not the same as the recipe elsewhere, so it is not justified to accuse us of stealing the recipe. In fact, I participated in creating the recipe for the previous brand, but it was not used for the Geprek Bensu brand," continued the film actor TENDANGAN DARI LANGIT.

2. Jordi Onsu's Advice Regarding the Case He Experienced

Disputes over business trademarks are not new in the business world. Reflecting on this fact, Jordi hopes for the government's active role in socializing to the public how to register their respective trademarks. According to him, trademark education in Indonesia is still difficult to implement due to the lack of information.

"Things like this could actually be taught since high school considering the growing interest of young people in entering the business world. Maybe there could be extracurricular business subjects to facilitate students who are interested in entering the business world. Moreover, our Minister of Education (Nadiem Makarim) is an inspirational figure because he has successfully built a business to the level of a decacorn company. It could even be studied in universities," Jordi continued.

Jordi hopes that this case he experienced can also be a lesson for other business actors to be more careful in finding work partners and managing their businesses.

"This case opens the minds of the public who were previously unaware of the law to learn more. For those who want to build a business, they must go directly to the field," he advised.

3. Collaboration with Business Partners in the Past

Jordi then shared a bit about his experience in starting Geprek Bensu. Initially, this 27-year-old man collaborated with 2 business partners. However, during the journey, the collaboration did not go smoothly, so Jordi chose to run his own business with the Geprek Bensu brand.

The name Bensu (short for Ruben Onsu) was deliberately chosen due to the consideration of Ruben's popularity. It turned out that the name successfully attracted the interest of 10 different partners who were willing to collaborate in less than a week.

"They felt that the investment they made would be safe because of Ruben Onsu's name. It's like, if anything happens, Ruben can easily be reached," said Jordi.
