Known as a Gentle Woman, Sarwendah Actually Wants to Star in a Murder Thriller Film

"Yes, we have to have confidence if we want to do something. Actually, I am confident, yes confident. But sometimes there is a feeling of how the location will be or what happens at the location, that sometimes makes us have to adapt to the conditions on set," said Sarwendah in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (11/2/2025).

Sarwendah revealed that she prefers movies over soap operas. This is because the tight shooting schedule of soap operas can disrupt her time with her children.

"Movies. Because soap operas take time. My kids are around, right? So if it's a movie, it’s short time, like 5 days, but in 5 days it’s already clear. If it’s a soap opera, it’s every day, and then the house moves to the location," she said.   "So it seems like I can't do that. If it's a movie or miniseries, I think I can take it, but if it’s for a soap opera, I can’t do it yet," she continued.

Sarwendah’s decision is closely related to her priorities as a mother. She wants to remain present in her children's lives even though she is busy working. Although she is known for her softer roles, Sarwendah actually wants to try something different. She admitted to being interested in playing in a thriller movie with a tense story.

"Actually, honestly, I have a dream of acting in a thriller movie. Because I really love watching thriller movies, like sudden murders that are investigative, I really like that kind of thing," she revealed.

However, this desire was questioned by her manager. Sarwendah's gentle face was considered less suitable for a thriller role.   "But when I talked about this with my manager, my manager was surprised, 'What will your face look like if thriller faces are supposed to be scary, this one seems unsuitable,'" she said.

"But there are also those who said earlier that the Director said, 'It's good, but with a face like this, people can't guess, suddenly it turns out this is the one who did it,'" she added.

Sarwendah's desire to act in a thriller film is not just a trial. She wants to explore characters that are different from her daily life.   "Yes, I actually want to feel things that I can't. In films, we can explore characters that we wouldn't be able to do in real life. So if you ask me, I definitely want to try out different characters," she concluded.
