Lady Nayoan Reveals the Miracle of Her Mother's Battle Against Cancer

The long struggle of Lady Nayoan's mother, Rima Sania Pontoh, against cancer that started in 2023 ended on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 19:23 WIB. Behind her departure lies an extraordinary fighting spirit, which Lady referred to as a miracle.

"My mom can be considered a miracle. You can see her photo later, my mom had a lot of hair. 14 chemotherapy sessions and 33 radiation treatments, her hair only fell out but she didn't go bald," said Lady Nayoan when met at the funeral home of Adian Nasonang Raya, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi, on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

The fighting spirit of her mother made many people around her even unaware that she was battling a serious illness. "And her spirit of life was really high. Like someone who is not sick. Most of the time when she met friends at church, they didn’t suspect that Mom was sick," said Lady.

1. The Ups and Downs of the Treatment Process

Rendy Kjaernett, Rima's son-in-law, also confirmed this. According to him, the treatment process that his in-laws underwent for three years has had its ups and downs, but it never made him give up. "Mama never complained throughout the 3 years of treatment, chemo, radiation, was once cured, then relapsed," Rendy revealed.

That resilience is one of the things he admires most about his in-laws. "Mama is a good Mama, a good Mother, a really good Grandma," Rendy explained.

2. Memorable Birthday Surprise

One of the most memorable moments for Rendy Kjaernett with his late mother-in-law was his own birthday. "The most memorable moment was my birthday yesterday. Mom gave a surprise," Rendy said when met at the funeral home.

Rendy had asked his mother-in-law not to bother with a surprise considering her health condition. However, she insisted on giving him a surprise that night. "I thought, well, just come over, Mom, if you want to stay, just stay, no need to bother with a surprise. But suddenly, late at night, I thought she was already asleep, she knocked on my room and gave me a surprise," Rendy said.

At that moment, his mother-in-law asked to be prayed for by Rendy, who had become a servant of God. "Then Mom said, 'Pray for me so I can get well if I'm prayed for by a servant of God.' That was what was memorable for me," Rendy revealed.
